GIRLS BASKETBALL LEAGUE
Grades 3 - 6
Our program is all about introducing kids to the fundamentals of the game, being part of a team, and having a lot of fun.
For this program to be a complete success, volunteer parent coaches are needed.
- Parents who volunteer to coach will be contacted by September 19, and the coach's meeting will be on September 23.
- Girls will practice for 90 minutes, one night per week, either Monday or Wednesday, starting the week of September 30.
- Games will be played on Saturdays,October 5,12,19, 26, November 2, & 9
- A season-ending tournament will be played on November 9 (2 games will be played)

JR CHEER CLINIC
Grades PK-5
This one-day clinic aims to introduce elementary students to the fundamentals of cheerleading and to give them the opportunity to discover the fun of cheerleading. Clinic participants will learn a cheer, chants, and jumps.
Participants will be invited to perform with the Varsity Cheerleaders during the 1st quarter of the Varsity football game on Friday, September 20 at 7 p.m.

TENNIS LESSONS
Ages 5 - through 13
Red Ball (5-7 Year Old): A basic introduction to tennis. This exciting learning environment will teach your child the fundamental techniques of tennis. This would include proper strokes, how to score, how the game is played, and tennis etiquette. Each class will highlight a different stroke and end with a fun and lively games.
Orange Ball (8-10 Year Old): This introductory class requires little to no tennis experience and is designed to get your child excited about the sport! In this 5-week session, your child will learn the fundamental strokes of tennis and be capable of rallying by completing the course. Each day's lesson will be concluded with exciting games and team challenges.
Green Ball (11-13 Year Old): This fun class is designed to introduce and engage students to the sport of tennis. Students will earn fundamental strokes and tactics and be able to play a match by the end of the session. Each practice will conclude with exciting games and competitions.

Your son will practice one night a week and play two games on Saturdays. Practices will begin the week of October 14, and your son's coach will contact you no later than October 10 to inform you of the time and location of practice.

We will have three leagues: 1) 3rd grade/beginners, 2) 4th grade/experienced, and 3) 5th & 6th grade will be combined.
We will have experienced referees for all games.

SOCCER BUDDIES
Soccer classes at Soccer Buddies go beyond just teaching kids athletic and soccer skills. Our expert coaches use soccer as a tool to teach confidence, perseverance, teamwork – core values that will help your child thrive in any situation.
Koalas: (15 mo. - 3 yrs)
Enjoy this class together. Fun games and activities build motor skills, balance, and coordination, while also learning social skills such as turn-taking and teamwork. Our high-energy coaches keep the kids engaged and running – you may have to work hard to keep up with your kid! This is the perfect starter class where we can slowly transition to kid-only classes. When your child is ready, we’ll encourage them to work more independently.
Bears: (3 yrs - 4 yrs)
Your little cub is growing in independence and will love the opportunity to play ball with their teammates. We encourage independence, listening, following directions, and teamwork. All these skills will help your child as they prepare for school. With a range of props and games, your child will be developing their social and physical skills, coordination, and fitness all while having a ball! This fun-filled and fast-paced class builds ball-handling skills, coordination, and physical fitness.
Polar Bears: (4 yrs - 6 yrs)
Whether a first-timer or a seasoned pro, your child will be welcomed and challenged in this class. Kids will build self-confidence in a supportive, motivating, and positive environment. We introduce and build on ball skills such as coordination, agility, balance, and ball control while moving. Young players will develop their confidence and a love for physical activity as they are inspired and cheered on by our high-energy, outrageously fun coaches. We fast-track learning by maximizing the number of ‘touches’ on the ball. We also put their skills into practice with small-sided games.
Polar Bears: (7 yrs - 12 yrs)
We welcome first-timers as well as kids who have played before. We’ll work at their level and make sure everyone is supported and challenged by our amazing coaches. Watch your kid’s confidence soar as they master technical skills. This class focuses on increasing fundamental soccer skills: speed and conditioning, field awareness, technique and tactics, agility and more. We introduce friendly competition and the kids scrimmage for 20 minutes of every class. We continue our philosophy of maximizing ball touches, and also playing small-sided games, encouraging positivity and graceful winning or losing.

Broadway Bootcamp - Early Release Days

Join us for an exciting one-day Broadway Bootcamp workshop! This dynamic program is designed to boost your self-confidence through the thrilling world of musical theatre performance. Discover your hidden talents and unleash your creativity in a safe and supportive environment. Throughout the day, you'll immerse yourself in the fundamentals of musical theatre, including acting, music, and movement. Our experienced facilitators will guide you as you learn the basics of performance and choreography. Then, with their expert assistance, you'll put it all together to create your own captivating scene, song, and dance from a popular Broadway show.
Whether you're a seasoned performer or new to the stage, this high-energy workshop is for everyone. Through a variety of engaging games and exercises, you'll uncover your natural gifts and expand upon your talents. Our structured instruction will help you present what you've learned in a comfortable and confident manner. The primary goal of our one-day workshop is to cultivate a healthy interest in the performing arts. We aim to provide a supportive environment where you can recognize and develop your unique talents and self-expression. So, come and join us for an unforgettable day of Broadway Bootcamp and take your love for musical theatre to new heights! Performance at the end of the day is to take place at 5:30 p.m.

BRICKS FOR KIDZ - MICHIGAN'S GRAND ADVENTURE!
Grades K - 5
Each class is a fun and educational LEGO-building adventure with Bricks 4 Kidz. We use age-appropriate models for different levels of building skills. This hands-on class explores STEAM
concepts (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) primarily using LEGO Bricks, in which children will develop problem-solving and critical-thinking skills in a fun and engaging way. Even our youngest and newest students will learn how to make mechanical LEGO models that move and groove. As they advance in building skills, they’ll also motorize their weekly model for even more learning fun!
Michigan's Grand Adventure!
Extend the fun of summer into fall by building favorite amusement park rides in this imaginative unit. Students will construct a Carousel Swing, Tilt a Whirl, Loop de Loop ride, and Merry Go Round and more! Lessons incorporate basic principles of physics, described in a way children can understand. These engaging lessons and models will give students an understanding of the physical forces they experience every day while having a TON of FUN!

KIDZ NIGHT OUT! - LEGO - FALL FABRICATING FUN
LEGO - Fall Fabricating Fun!: Fall is here, and we are ready to celebrate by building Fall, Halloween, and Thanksgiving-themed models with LEGO bricks! Join us for a fun night building your favorite mosaic, 3-D, and technic (moving) models. We will set up stations for you to enjoy all your favorite activities, including model building, Perler beads, crafts, games, and creative play! Our innovative play station will feature a contest in which the best build will win a special prize! We will provide pizza and fruit for dinner, and each participant will build a jack-o-lantern with LEGO bricks and pick from candy favorites…to keep!

INTRO TO HPS COMPETITIVE ROBOTICS
We provide students with the equipment and knowledge to compete in the world's largest robotics competition program.
Intro to Competitive Robotics is a two-evening course that teaches students the basics of building, programming, and driving a competition robot. This course will allow students to try competitive robotics to see if they are interested in the fall competition season.
Day 1 - Planning, structure, motors, and control systems. We will also share presentations on how our program operates during the season.
Day 2 - Students will use computers to change their robot configuration and create autonomous programming.
Students will work in groups of two, and all equipment is provided.

Boys Middle School Volleyball Clinic
Grades 6th - 8th
This Middle School Camp is open to 6th through 8th grade boys and welcomes everyone, regardless of their playing experience. Whether you're new to the sport or looking to improve your skills, this camp is perfect for you.
Our coaches will guide you through the basics of volleyball, helping you build a strong foundation in the game. You'll learn essential skills such as serving, passing, setting, and hitting.
The camp will also feature scrimmages, giving you the opportunity to put your new skills to the test in a fun and competitive environment.

HOME ALONE CLASS
Ages 9 - 12
Are you wondering if your child is ready to spend time alone at home? We have just the thing for you! Our one-day class covers everything your child needs to know about staying safe, including answering the door or phone, first aid, fire safety, internet safety, gun safety, and stranger danger. We'll even provide a workbook for your child to take home. Plus, we'll make sure to give your child a short break to recharge and refuel with a snack. It's the perfect way to ensure your child is prepared and confident when staying home alone.

BABYSITTING CLASS
Ages 10 - 15
In this popular babysitting class, your child will learn everything they need to know about caring for children, keeping them entertained, and ensuring their safety. The course includes a helpful workbook and a break for a tasty snack. It's a fun and informative way to prepare for your child's next babysitting job!

BUILD A WACKY ROBOT
Ages 5 -9
Many children have used "block coding" - this class will start to teach them actual (text) coding! Start with examples of block coding, and then Enjoy building your own robot, decorating it, and playing with it while you learn how robots work! This class is designed for younger children ages 6-9 and would be an excellent opportunity to build a robot with a parent or grandparent (age five allowed with an adult helper).

LEARN TO ICE SKATE
Ages 4 and up
Our lessons are perfect for beginners who want to learn balance, gliding, and agility and can be applied to figure skating or hockey. Kids 5 and up are welcome to join us for 50 minutes of instruction each week, and we provide skates and require helmets for safety.
Please have your child dress warmly and wear thin socks, and arrive 20 minutes early for the first session so we can fit your skates and assign you to the right class. The fee includes skate rental. We can't wait to see you on the ice!
All skaters MUST wear a helmet (hockey or bike). Dress warm, and wear gloves. Wear only ONE pair of thin socks (you want the skates to fit).

INTRO TO HOCKEY

This program is the second step of youth hockey player development.
If your child is between the ages of 5-9, we have a fun and challenging 50-minute weekly program just for them! Our expert coaches, including the Georgetown Hockey Director, will help improve their skating and puck-handling skills through exciting drills and on-ice games. We'll make sure to group them with players of similar abilities so they feel comfortable and motivated to improve. Come join us for some high-tempo, positive instruction tailored to your child's individual skill level.

LEARN TO SKATE/ROLLERBLADE
Ages 4 and up
Come join our roller skating and rollerblading class, where we teach your child the basics! They'll learn how to start, stop, maneuver forward and backward, balance on one foot, fall and get up safely, and even some techniques to improve their skills. We like to make learning fun, so we also play games like Dead Bug and the Hokey Pokey to apply newly learned skating skills.
Our instructors are highly qualified and Roller Skating Association certified, so you know they're in good hands. We provide roller skates, roller blades, or Fisher-Price skates, but feel free to bring your own too. Just make sure to arrive at least 15 minutes early to check in and get your skates or blades on. If your child can't skate independently yet, no worries.
We want each skater to improve their skating talent without relying on an aid, so we don't allow Skate-mate tools during this class. Let's hit the rink and have some fun!

AFTER SCHOOL PAINTING FUN!
Calling all budding artists! Get ready for a painting workshop that's all about creativity and fun! You'll have a blast choosing from four kid-friendly designs: Butterfly, Wizard, Cat, or Pumpkin. We provide pre-sketched designs and helpful guidance, so you can bring your 11"x 14" canvas to life with colorful acrylics. No experience needed, just bring your enthusiasm and eagerness to have a good time. Come join us for a fun-filled paint session!

WRESTLING CLINIC
If you're thinking about introducing your child to the world of wrestling, we've got great news for you! The Hudsonville Wrestling Program is organizing a clinic that's perfect for young, aspiring wrestlers who want to learn the ropes and master the fundamental skills and techniques of the sport. The clinic will be headed by a team of skilled HPS high school and youth coaches, as well as their advanced youth wrestlers, so you can rest assured that your wrestler will be in good hands. If you think your child would be interested, we'd love to have them attend! And for those who want to take their wrestling skills to the next level, the Michigan Youth Wrestling Association (MYWAY) season begins in mid- November.

Students can earn awards!
Our baton twirling classes not only focus on teaching children how to twirl a baton but also encourage teamwork, poise, hand-eye coordination, and help children build their self-esteem. Students learn baton twirling tricks in class as well as routines. Students will have an opportunity to be in a competition and parades.

Scholarship Opportunity
Hudsonville Community Education aims to provide high-quality enrichment classes, recreational sports, and summer camps for everyone. We are proud to offer scholarships to members of the Hudsonville Public Schools community who are eligible for free or reduced lunch and reside within the boundaries of the Hudsonville Public School District.
- If your child is eligible for free lunches, you can be awarded one $50 scholarship per school year. (Maximum 1 per family)
- If your child is eligible for reduced lunches, you can be awarded one $25 scholarship per school year. (Maximum 1 per family)
