Wildcat Weekly Update

From the Principal
Dear Medinah Middle School Families,
Next week, students will be taking the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) for grades 6-8 on March 24, 25, and 26. This assessment provides valuable insight into student progress in Math and English Language Arts, helping us identify strengths and areas for growth. To support your child in feeling confident and prepared, here are a few key tips:
✅ Get plenty of rest – A good night’s sleep helps with focus and performance.
✅ Eat a healthy breakfast – Nutritious food fuels the brain for better concentration.
✅ Arrive on time – Being present and prepared reduces stress.
✅ Stay positive – Encourage your child to take their time, do their best, and approach the test with confidence.
Your encouragement and support at home make a big difference!
Additionally, we want to remind students of the importance of following our
Medinah Code of Conduct:
We are safe.
We are caring.
We are respectful.
We are responsible.
These values help create a positive learning environment for everyone. Whether in the classroom, hallways, or online, we encourage all students to demonstrate kindness, responsibility, and respect toward their peers and teachers.
As we continue to navigate the ever-evolving digital world, I also want to emphasize the importance of monitoring your child’s use of social media. While technology provides many benefits, it also presents challenges. We encourage you to have open conversations about responsible use, privacy settings, and the impact of their online interactions. Regularly checking in, setting boundaries, and reinforcing positive digital citizenship will help ensure their safety and well-being.
Lastly, we value your feedback in helping us improve our school! Please take a few minutes to complete the 5Essentials Survey, which provides important insights into our school's strengths and areas for growth. Your input is essential in shaping our school improvement efforts. You can access the survey at http://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/survey/parent/
Thank you for your ongoing partnership and support. Please reach out if you have any questions.

Illinois 5 Essential Survey
Schools across Illinois are participating in the Tenth annual 5Essentials Survey of Learning Conditions: Organizing Schools for Improvement this past academic year. This survey generates valuable data that districts can use to guide their ongoing efforts to improve schools and to offer students an excellent education. The survey is another improvement tool that allows districts and the state to share data as a means to inform parents and community members about the school’s learning environment. Please click the link below to take the survey.
