Important Board Meeting Date Change:
Thank Our Principals!
Coupeville Principals Are Leading Great Work!
Dear Coupeville Families and Community,
October is Principal Appreciation Month, a time to recognize the invaluable contributions of our school leaders. Here in Coupeville, we are incredibly fortunate to have exceptional principals who go above and beyond to support our students and staff.
Great leaders inspire students to reach their full potential. They create positive learning environments, foster strong relationships with students and staff, and advocate for the needs of their school communities. Their impact extends far beyond the classroom, shaping the future of our students. Please take time to thank your child's principal with a simple email, card or note of appreciation.
A Special Farewell to Dave Ebersole: Next week, we bid a fond farewell to Dave, our longtime district leader. His dedication to our schools and students has left an incredible legacy throughout our district. We invite our staff and community members to join us in celebrating his many years of service. Please see the flyer below for more information on this special event next Wednesday.
Welcoming Our New Leader Erica McColl: We extend a warm welcome to Erica, our new Interim Principal at Coupeville Elementary. Her passion for education and commitment to student success make her an ideal fit for our school community. We hope you had time to see her during parent/teacher conferences. If not, there will be many opportunities throughout the school year.
A Word of Thanks to Geoff Kappes: I want to express my sincere gratitude to Geoff, our dedicated Middle/High School Principal. His tireless efforts and unwavering support have a profound impact on the lives of our students. We appreciate your steady contribution to ensure our kids cross the stage!
Conferences: We want to express our sincere gratitude for taking the time to join us for parent-teacher conferences this week. These conferences provide a valuable opportunity to discuss your child’s progress, strengths, and areas for growth.
Your involvement in your child’s education is crucial to their success. Here are some ways you can support your child at all ages:
For Elementary Students:
- Read together daily. This helps build vocabulary and comprehension skills.
- Encourage a love of learning. Ask questions about their day and show interest in their studies.
- Establish a regular homework routine. Create a quiet, distraction-free space for homework.
- Limit screen time. Balance technology use with other activities like reading, playing, and spending time outdoors.
For Middle and High School Students:
- Stay involved in their education. Attend parent-teacher conferences, review report cards, and monitor their progress.
- Encourage time management skills. Help them create a schedule and prioritize tasks.
- Promote organization. Encourage them to use planners, calendars, and other tools to stay organized.
- Communicate openly. Talk to your child about their schoolwork, goals, and challenges.
By working together, we can create a positive and supportive learning environment for all students.
Thank you again for your partnership!

Food Services:
During the first week of October Coupeville joined school districts around the state to celebrate Taste Washington Week by serving meals with food grown on local farms.
- On October 2nd, we served Salmon Corn Chowder and homemade focaccia, made with Lummi Wild salmon and local flour.
- On Thursday, we served 3 Sisters Farm meatballs with School Farm tomato marinara, and a salad bar full of School Farm veggies.
This time of year we serve local food every day and students can enjoy School Farm veggies on the salad bar and Little Red Hen Bakery rolls and bread, baked with grain grown right here on Ebey’s Prairie. Connecting our students to their local food system is one way we support courageous and healthy eaters. We’ll see you at breakfast and lunch!
