A Note from Ms. Owens

Our first trimester has concluded. Our fall sports seasons have all wrapped up. Our second trimester begins. Boys basketball and girls volleyball seasons are ramping up. Thanksgiving is in two weeks. Advent begins the Sunday after Thanksgiving! The school year is moving, moving, moving right along.


As the second trimester begins tomorrow (Friday, November 15), grade checks and eligibility will be paused for three weeks. Given the realities of the calendar, we will send out any necessary probation notices on Thursday, December 19 so no one will be ineligible over Christmas Break and students will have ample time to make up any missing work that can still be turned in. The first ineligibility notices of the second trimester will be sent on Thursday, January 9.


To allow for the smooth set up of FSA's Holiday Wishes Vendor Fair, there will be no extended care on Friday, November 22.


A Bit More News...

  • This Thursday, November 14 marks the end of the first trimester of the school year. Report cards and social growth reports will be sent home on Thursday, November 21.
  • Please scroll down for important information regarding girls volleyball evaluations.
  • Information for December's Beyond the Books went home in this week's white envelope. Completed forms and payment are due back Thursday, November 21.
  • The annual Scholastic Book Fair kicks off on Monday, November 18. Parents/guardians can set up eWallets for their child(ren) to eliminate sending cash to school. Homeroom teachers have signed up for a date and time to visit the Book Fair.
  • Once again, St. Catherine will collect extra Halloween candy from November 1-15. Candy will be donated to a long-standing organization that serves the homeless population in the Chicagoland area. Families can send the candy in with their student - or they can bring it into school on the sly if needed! 👻👾😉🍬
  • Presale ticket order forms for the Annual Holiday Wishes Vendor Fair went home in last week's white envelope. They are due back no later than November 20.
  • Registration for FSA's Movie Night with Santa has been closed as the event is full.

Girls Volleyball Evaluations

The second night of evaluations for girls volleyball (6th through 8th) is Friday.


Friday, November 15

  • 6th grade, 4:00-5:00PM
  • 7th grade, 5:00-6:00PM
  • 8th grade, 6:00-7:00PM


Additional Information

  • Arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled session time.
  • Enter and exit using the gym lobby – do not use the kitchen doors.
  • No parents are permitted in the gym lobby or gym during evaluations.
  • Girls must have a current sports physical on file to participate in evaluations.


All players are encouraged to attend both scheduled evaluation sessions. Teams will be assembled, and head coaches will be appointed in the days following the second evaluation session. Once finalized, parents/guardians will be notified accordingly.
