Weekly Highlights!
Back To School Night
Thank you to all of the families that went to our Back-To-School night to meet the teacher and get a better understanding of the classroom. Your partnership is invaluable to your child's success this year.
Wallball Court Murals
Our Upper Playground got a facelift! A big shout out CSF and the Kato Family for making this happen.
Forgotten Item Drop Off
In order to reduce disruptions to the learning environment and promote personal responsibility, items forgotten at home (Chromebooks, water bottles, ext.) can be dropped off in a cart in the front office. We will have a post-it-note for you to label the item for your child. This cart will be moved to the cafeteria during lunch hours (10:50-1:15) where students can check to see if a forgotten item was delivered. After 1:15, the cart will be moved back to the office so the student can check during dismissal.
Pets During Arrival and Dismissal
We love to see furry friends around our campus! Please make sure that pets are kept on leashes and kept on the sidewalk of the perimeter of the school. Please do not bring pets in the office or on to campus.
Village 5th Grade Band Registration
Please use this form to register your 5th Grade student for band. The registration deadline is Friday (9/6). The 5th Grade Band meets every Thursday and Friday morning at 7:00 AM.
5th Grade Band Open House night Thursday 9/5, 5-6:00pm in Village Hall. Meet Mrs. Baller and learn more about Band.
Updated Protocols for Volunteer Fingerprinting
The safety of our children is our highest priority. With that in mind, several years ago the district reviewed the volunteer procedure and determined that it would include a requirement that all volunteers be fingerprinted. While the Raptor System checks local information, fingerprinting ensures that volunteers are both FBI and DOJ cleared. This has become common practice in most districts and the San Diego County Office.
If you applied and were cleared last year, you don’t need to go through the procedure again this year. You will remain on our list, and we are notified of any criminal activity that occurs.
For volunteers working in a classroom, with small groups, on the playground, on field trips, etc., you must follow the procedure below:
- Complete a volunteer application linked here.
- Complete a Livescan of FBI and DOJ fingerprints. If you submit your receipt for fingerprinting to the District (HR Office), the District will reimburse $50 of the cost.
- You must have a TB screening or TB test. This is good until it expires every four years.
Please be advised that it takes up to two weeks to be cleared. Please complete this process promptly in order to volunteer across our campus and for specific events such as field trips. The Postal Annex in Coronado has fingerprinting services.
Current Needs!
We always welcome help for our school in any capacity! If you are looking to assist this year, we currently need:
- Everyone a Reader Volunteers
- These volunteers read with our lower elementary students and assist with their developing reading skills. Please email julia.braga@coronadousd.net if you are interested in being a volunteer.
