CITIZENSHIP
Turkey Dinner - An MCHS Holiday Tradition!
We were delighted to come together as a school community for our annual turkey dinner, a special time to share food, fellowship, and gratitude. A heartfelt thank-you goes to Sherry Wiley and her "elves" for preparing the delicious meal that brought smiles to so many faces. Their hard work and dedication made this event truly memorable. We are so grateful for the warmth and connection this tradition brings to our school!
Christmas Celebration with Grade 3s from END and SKT
Our Christmas liturgy and celebration were truly heartwarming this year as we welcomed Grade 3 students from END and SKT to join us. The younger students dazzled us with their wonderful performances, and some of our own MCHS students also showcased their incredible talents, making the event even more special. A sincere thank-you to Father Trini and Louise Sansano for organizing the liturgy and to everyone who helped or performed—it was a beautiful way to come together and celebrate the season. Your efforts brought joy and the spirit of Christmas to our school community!
SAFE AND CARING SCHOOLS
GSACRD Voice - Peace and Mental Health
As we enter Christmas break, the Advent themes of joy and love offer a powerful reminder of what truly supports our teens' mental health. This season can be a time for connection, reflection, and emotional growth—helping teens find joy in simple moments.
The Power of Joy and Love
Joy is about embracing small, meaningful moments—like sharing a meal or enjoying a hobby. Encouraging your teen to focus on these simple joys can help them manage holiday stress.
Love builds connection and emotional security. Whether through family time or small acts of kindness, love is essential for mental well-being.
For many, the holidays are a time of deep love and celebration, but they can also bring stress, anxiety, and a sense of overwhelm—especially for our teens. Navigating school pressures, social expectations, and personal struggles can be challenging.
As we celebrate Christmas—the ultimate expression of love and joy—let’s also remember that our mental and emotional health are part of the gift we can give ourselves and others. May this Advent season bring peace, hope, and healing to you and your family.
Wishing you a joyful, love-filled season!

STUDENT ENGAGEMENT
Bringing Shakespeare to Life
Our students have been diving into the works of Shakespeare in an exciting and active way! Through movement, role-playing, and dynamic group activities, they’ve brought the Bard’s timeless words to life. This hands-on approach helps students connect with the themes, language, and emotions of the plays while making learning fun and engaging. It’s wonderful to see their enthusiasm and creativity shine!
ATHLETICS
UNIFIED Bocce Ball
Last week, severaly MCHS students had a fantastic time at the Unified Metro Bocce Bonanza at Foote Field in Edmonton. It was a day full of laughs, teamwork, and friendly competition, but most importantly, it was a true showcase of inclusion in action.
Our athletes and partners did an amazing job representing MCHS with pride and sportsmanship. It was inspiring to see everyone come together and support each other, making the day such a success.

Ball Hockey Game - Grads VS Teachers
This year’s graduates vs. teachers hockey game was an unforgettable event filled with excitement, laughter, and camaraderie. Both teams gave it their all, and the crowd was on the edge of their seats as the game went into overtime. In a spectacular finish, Hudson Gauthier scored the game-winning goal with just two minutes left, sealing the victory for the students. Thank you to everyone who participated and cheered—it was a fantastic way to come together as a school community!
Half-time Entertainment!
We were treated to some excellent half-time entertainment during the ball hockey game which included some prizes with the Plinko board, a half-court shot and best of all an amazing performance from the MCHS cheer team. Thank you to everyone involved in making the ball hockey game a huge success. A special shout out to Mr. Bodnar, Mr. Swerda and Mr. Boutestein for their hard work organizing the event.

Can Anything Good Come From Saskatchewan?
First Reading - Micah 5:2-5
4th Sunday of Advent - Year C
The prophet Micah told God's people that the King they are waiting for would come from a little backwater town called Bethlehem. "Can anything good come out of Bethlehem?" The people would echo a similar sentiment 700 years later. The one they hoped for would bring an unexpected peace, at a time and in a way they maybe wouldn't choose or expect. And God is working for our own peace in a similar way.
