i-Ready Minutes
August i-Ready Minutes
Hello Lehigh Families,
i-Ready is a great resource for our kids to use daily. The expectation is for ALL students to do 45 minutes of Reading and 45 minutes of Math every week. If you have access to a computer and the internet, you will be able to access i-Ready at home. Use the student Symbaloo link-
https://omsdstudent.symbaloo.com/home/mix/13ePBice8A and go through CLEVER to log into i-Ready.
This month, the 5th grade accumulated the most i-Ready minutes for Reading and the 4th grade had the most for Math!! Congratulations to both grade levels. Keep up the great work.
THANK YOU!!
Mr. Russ
Attendance Matters
Attendance counts!
September is Attendance Awareness Month! This year's attendance campaign is "Every Day Matters," Regular attendance is crucial for student success, helping to build strong academic foundations and fostering a vibrant school community. This month, keep an eye out for exciting activities and events focused on the impact of showing up every day! #AttendanceAwarenessMonth #AttendanceCampaign #EveryDayMatters #WEAREOMSD #StriveForLessThan5
Come to school every day-we have so many fun incentives happening right now. We have our attendance assemblies where we honor students with monthly perfect attendance and classrooms with a trophy to keep for the month! We have perfect attendance parties for classrooms who have students here on time every day and complete their Lehigh letters coloring. And last but not least we have attendance surprise days; one per month!
PAWS OUT for the classes that had the best attendance!
ELOP
New ELOP Clubs
ELOP (Clubs) are up and running. Students are having a lot of fun!! Our gardening club which is run by Mrs. Ortega is one of our more popular clubs. Students enjoy putting in the effort to see something start off as a seed and watching it grow over time. Session #2 signups will begin in Mid-September and will start October 1 and run until November 8th.

College Spotlight
Stanford University
Lehigh Elementary is a No Excuses University (NEU) in which we believe that every child deserves the opportunity to go to college. In each newsletter, we will spotlight a college so that our community can learn more about colleges. This month, we spotlight Stanford University! Stanford University is one of the most prestigious universities in the United States. It is a private institution of higher education located about 30 miles south of San Francisco. The colleg was founded in 1885 and consistenlty ranks among the best national universities, eanblign it to be very selective when admitting students. Total enrollment is approximatley 20,000 students. The unofficial name for the Stanford mascot is - The Stanford Tree. There has been a fairly selective process tochoose the students who get to play the tree, since the responsibility is in high deemand. The tree costume is created new each year, though each costume has similar characteristics.

Social-Emotional Learning (SEL)
Team Spirit
In every corner of our school, from the classroom to the playing field, there are students who embody the true essence of teamwork and collaboration. Their spirit is infectious, their dedication unwavering, and their ability to lift others up truly inspiring.
Teachers will pick one student who demonstrates these remarkable qualities and they will be honored at our next awards assembly for their outstanding team spirit. These students have gone above and beyond, working harmoniously with their peers to achieve common goals, support each other, and create a positive and inclusive environment.
Whether it's through rallying their classmates during challenging projects, encouraging teammates during sports events, or simply lending a helping hand when needed, these students have shown what it means to be a true team player. Their efforts have not only contributed to their own success but have also helped elevate the entire school community.
We look forward to celebrating their achievements and acknowledging their invaluable contributions. Their commitment to teamwork is a testament to the strength of our school community and a shining example of what we can accomplish when we work together.
PBIS
PBIS Kick-Off
The PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) kickoff at Lehigh was a vibrant and engaging event, setting a positive tone for the school year. Our focus this year centers around three core values: respect, responsibility, and readiness to learn. The assembly brought the whole school community together as students were introduced to the importance of showing respect for themselves and others, taking responsibility for their actions, and coming prepared to engage fully in their educational journey. Through interactive skits, enthusiastic cheers, and student-led demonstrations, the kickoff emphasized how these values create a supportive and productive learning environment. It was a day filled with excitement and encouragement, laying the groundwork for a year where every student is empowered to thrive academically and socially.
Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS) Expectations and Examples
- "Remember to always show RESPONSIBILITY by having your materials for class."
- "Remember to always be READY TO LEARN in the classroom."
- "How did you show RESPECT today?"
It is always a great conversation topic to also talk about how you showed RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY, and READY TO LEARN in your daily life. We teach our students by example so sharing your experiences during your day is always a great opportunity to TEACH and MODEL!
