High School Transition Timeline

Dear Parents/Guardians of 8th grade students,

I am writing to you today to share some important information about the remainder of the school year for our 8th grade students. We are beginning the process of helping your child transition to Scarborough High School. Please be on the lookout for important dates, but here is an overview of the process:

February:

8th grade teachers will begin the course recommendation process for your child’s high school core classes.
High School Administrators will visit SMS to speak with the 8th grade about high school.

March:

Save the Date: 8th Grade Step Up Night is on Monday, March 10, 2025 at 6pm for 8th grade students and parents/guardians at Scarborough High School.
SMS Parent-Teacher Conferences: This will be an opportunity to discuss high school course recommendations.

Course recommendation forms will be sent home to parents/guardians for final review.
8th graders will explore high school electives in Civics class.

Early April:

8th graders will visit Scarborough High School to register for courses, tour the building, and hear from current students.

Please reach out to your child’s school counselor with any questions. We are looking forward to making this a seamless transition to Scarborough High School for your child.
