Message from Principal Coning
Hi there Students,
A heads up that Wednesday, Oct. 16th is an 8 period day schedule as we will have Juniors taking the PSAT. In order to balance out equivalent time in our A and B day schedules, we are running an 8 period schedule that day.
Grade level administrators are meeting with their students who have less than 90% attendance and want to attend the Homecoming Dance on Oct. 18th. If you have not filled out this interest form yet, and you want to go to Homecoming, please do so asap. For safety and security reasons, we have a cap of 600 students who can attend Homecoming. As previously communicated, it's a first come, first serve basis based upon the time you fill out the interest form above. Please go to office #139 to visit with your grade level administrator. If you are a senior, then, come see me in the Main Office.
On a somber note, today, one year ago, violence in the Middle East escalated and since that time there has been a war that has caused a tremendous loss of life. If you, or someone you know here at school, is directly impacted by this war and/or has strong feelings given the gravity of circumstances, please know that your counselor and our social worker, as well as your grade level administrator, are here to support you. We care deeply about ALL of our students and we are here for you.
Let me know what you need. I ALWAYS so enjoy hearing from you and checking in at events and while in the hallways during passing time and lunch.

This year’s Homecoming dance is set for Friday, October 18th, right after the home football game, from 8:30 to 11:00 PM! Due to health and safety guidelines, we’re limiting attendance to 600 students. Tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, so don’t wait to complete this interest form.
The dance will take place in the Ida B. Wells HS Gym. To protect our gym floors, only athletic wear will be allowed on the dance floor.
To express your interest in attending, please fill out the form linked here. This form is for students to complete using their pps student login. Remember, there will be no entry 15 minutes after the football game ends, so plan accordingly!
A reminder: to join in the fun, students must maintain a 90% attendance record or better. You will receive an email this week from our Attendance Coach if you are not at 90% attendance and with steps to take if you want to improve your attendance so that you can attend the Homecoming Dance.
