Dear McGlynn Middle School Community,

It has been wonderful to welcome our students back to school this week!

Please note that school will be closed on Friday, August 30th and Monday, September 2nd in observance of Labor Day.

Next week, we will distribute Chromebooks, protective cases, and chargers to all students at the school in a phased process.

- Grade 6 students will receive their Chromebooks on Tuesday, September 3rd.

- Grade 7 students will receive their Chromebooks on Wednesday, September 4th.

- Grade 8 students will receive their Chromebooks on Thursday, September 5th.

- Friday, September 6th will be reserved as a Chromebook pick up date for any student that might not have been able to pick up their devices earlier in the week for whatever reason.

Students will not be issued a Chromebook if they owe more than $25 worth of fines due to having a previously lost or broken device. If your student is issued an invoice by the librarian, please reconcile the payment as soon as possible.

Middle School Fall Sports tryouts begin next week!.The registration portal for fall middle school sports (baseball, softball & cross country) is open. All students must register and have an updated physical sent to the school nurse prior to tryouts. Updated physicals for McGlynn Middle School students can be sent to Nurse Karen Breen at kbreen@medford.k12.ma.us. The physical must be within 13 months of the first day of tryouts.

• Baseball- (Hickey Park) September 4th & 5th at 3:45pm. The team will be coached by Cam Quinlan. He can be reached at camjquinlan@gmail.com

• Softball- (Hickey Park) September 4th & 5th at 3:45pm. The team will be coached by Robert Radigan. He can be reached at bograd52@gmail.com

• Cross Country- (Hormel Stadium) September 5th at 3:00-4:00 pm. The team will be coached by Amelia Whalen. She can be reached at awhalen@medford.k12.ma.us

The late bus route schedule that operates on Tuesday-Thursdays will begin next week. This late bus route is designed to accommodate students who would like to attend their teachers’ after school extra help sessions from 2:15-3:05. In the coming weeks, once clubs and activities launch, it will also be available for students participating in a club to use for transportation home.

Breakfast and Lunch are free every day in school! We encourage all students to take advantage to fuel their mind and body for learning this year!

We have a Student School Supply Closet that is open and available for those who are in need of school supplies. This closet is located on the 3rd floor next to the elevator and across from rooms 318/320.

The closet, which is filled with brand new/gently used school supplies and backpacks, will be "pegged" open for students to access throughout the school year.

This closet has been recently stocked thanks to Mayor Lungo-Koehn's School Supply Drive over the summer. Thank you, Mayor Lungo-Koehn!
