HFRCS Newsletter September 24, 2024

Dear Parents and Guardians,

It is with much gratitude that I thank all our faculty, staff and parents for the quick adjustment to the new drop off/pick up procedures. With everyone working together, we have been able to cut valuable time in the morning and the afternoon. Students are getting into school quicker, and carline is getting loaded safely and dismissed in record time. I appreciate your quick response last Thursday when we were without the means to call dismissal on our PA, and the subsequent adjustment to the new procedures has been great. Thank you again for your support.

Last Friday’s “Go for Gold” dress down and Headbands of Hope sale raised $400! Thank you for your generosity. The Student Council will be sending a $400 donation to The Danica Strong Foundation.

The Gifts from Gwyn Foundation is sponsoring their annual 5K and One Mile Fun Walk on Saturday, November 16 at 9:30 AM at Falls Township Park. This is a great opportunity for families to gather to support a great cause that supports our school! Any Holy Family group or team will receive a discount on their registration. Consider getting a team of family members, CYO team, or class group to participate in this great event. Please see this newsletter for more information.

Our H&S sponsored a terrific Back to School Ice Cream Social and Gift Card Bingo last Friday evening. The event was very well attended, and a good time was had by all! This Thursday evening, our H&S is having a fundraiser at Red Robin. Please see the details in this newsletter. If you are looking for an idea for dinner this Thursday, consider visiting Red Robin! 20% of the proceeds come back to the school on all dine-in and online orders. Finally, our H&S has a brand-new spirit wear store with all new Holy Family gear! They are running a spirit wear sale from September 27 through October 11. You can view the online store here. Consider updating your Holy Family gear with some exciting new items! We will be having a spirit wear dress down day in November.

Forms are past due. Please complete them ASAP. Please note that the FACTS Payment Plan / Financial Aid account (where you setup your tuition plan) is different from the FACTS Family portal.

Attention Reading Olympics Team Members: Reminder that the first meeting of the year will be Wednesday October 9 from 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm in the Little Library. Please check Google Classroom for important book list updates. Any potential New Member who did NOT attend the info meeting in the spring, please return a permission slip (see attached) to Miss Brittany.

It is the responsibility of the students participating in clubs to inform their bus drivers that they are staying after school and will not be taking the bus home. Buses are waiting on students who are staying after school because no communication was received. This is causing delay in bus departure from school. Thank you for your cooperation.

Crescendo Music Academy is a private music studio based near Norristown, PA, that specializes in private music lessons for students of all ages, abilities, and experience levels. Crescendo Music Academy is excited to offer these musical opportunities to the students of Holy Family. During the program year, expect two concerts; one in December and another in May. Please note: students will be responsible to rent or purchase their own instruments.

Fee is $15 per individual or small group lesson (each will be half an hour in length). Band and lessons on the following instruments are offered:

• Flute
• Clarinet
• Saxophone
• Trumpet
• Trombone
• Percussion

For any students grades 4–8 interested in beginning an instrument or deepening their experience on an instrument they already play, Mr. Walzer will speak to each of his general music classes about how to participate in the program.

Anyone who would like to sign up NOW is welcome to do so on Crescendo's website, using THIS FORM. Please note, parents are billed in advance of each month, so signing up does not commit you to the entire year.

All students must have a completed Emergency Information Record & Medical Information Update form on school file. This is a back-to-back white form that was distributed to all students on the first day of school.

It is important that we have all the information on this form, especially the Medical Information update. Many families returned the form without the Medical Information Update or the Emergency Information Record. Please see attached for the forms. If you believe you did not complete both sides of the form, please complete the attached and return asap. This is critical information that the school needs in case of an emergency.

Specific grades have State-mandated screenings (Physical for Kindergarten & 6th Grade and Dental for Kindergarten, 3rd Grade & 7th Grade). Refer to the school website for more information.

Also, signed Medical Treatment Order forms will also be needed if your child needs to take any medication during school hours.

St. Charles and St. Ephrem are inviting Holy Family students to join their swim team. The team competes in the Catholic youth Swim League. They are looking for new swimmers to build the team. See flyer for details. Forms will be picked up at school on Friday, September 27. Please turn in your forms before then.

The annual 5k and 1 mile fun walk will be held on Saturday November 16th, 2024 starting at 9:30 AM. Every runner/ walker that signs up by October 19th, 2024, gets a Gifts from Gwyn t-shirt and wristband. There will be multiple door prizes and refreshments available to all participants. There will be raffles for; sports memorabilia, restaurant gift cards, movie tickets, gym membership, basket of cheer and many more. Please come out and support our foundation as we aim to keep Gwyn in our hearts and minds by giving back to the community that she was a part of. We look forward to seeing you there!
