Grapevine Middle School

Dear GMS Pony Band Families,

We had a great first FULL week of school. Both bands are learning the music for our first pep rally on Friday, September 27th. IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: Symphonic Band students will now have optional sectionals for the first semester. Their sectionals will be required beginning in January. We are trying something new for right now and will keep you posted if we need to resume to fall semester sectionals. If anyone in Symphonic Band is interested in learning the All-District/All-Region music, we are encouraging to attend the fall semester sectionals. Honors Band is required to attend weekly sectionals and we have communicated with the coaches. Every band student is allowed to miss 1 athletic practice to attend a band sectional per week. We will not have a sectional on a game day, and if there is one by mistake, the student will be expected to attend the game. Here is the weekly sectional schedule for the next 2 months. If you see an error or a conflict, please communicate with the directors in advance. Note: Low Brass is Trombone, Euphonium, Tuba.

Thank you to everyone for completing the band registration and volunteering! Your GMS Band Boosters have been working so hard behind the scenes and we can't thank them enough. Thank you to Karen Huff, Cassandra Wood and Jessica Gallardo for serving on our board and a special shout out to Tammy McFarlen for helping too!

If you have not completed the steps below, please do so at your earliest convenience.

1. Please click here to register your band student and pay for your band fee. Deadline: Thursday, August 15th. If you are experiencing difficulties, please email Mrs. Wood at gmsbandtreasury@gmail.com.

2.. Sign up to Volunteer: We ask that each family please sign up for at least 1 football concession time slot . We require a lot of manpower and we appreciate and love all of our volunteers! After you sign up, there are MORE volunteer opportunities throughout the year. Click here for all of our volunteer opportunities! 3. Please click here to complete the GCISD Volunteer Background Check. All volunteers must complete this in order to help us throughout the school year.

2. Metronome/Tuner with pick-up (all students should have already from their beginner supplies; check batteries; link included but you can find at different stores)

3. Spiral Notebook, 1-Subject, 70 pages, Hole Punched, Wide-Ruled, 8" x 10.5": All 7th & 8th Grade Students. This does not have to be purchased from this store, and is provided as an example.
