Kura Tuatahi Toko Panui
30th January 2025 - Week 1
Dear Parents and Friends of our school Kia Ora/Hello/Kamusta
Kia ora koutou,
Welcome back to school and the start of the new school year. We are super excited to see everyone tomorrow at interviews.
Things have been very quiet on the property front over the holidays. We have had a pile of chip/bark arrive for the school playground. If anyone had any time on Friday to lend a hand spreading this that would be greatly appreciated.
Breakfast Club will start from Monday. We are looking for some volunteers to assist with this from 8.30 - 8.55 each day. This will involve supervisining the monitors and making sure the kitchen bench is all cleaned up. We are really happy to have different parents rostered on different days. If you can lend a hand please email the office.
In preparation for interviews we have previously sent out a form for whanau to fill in about their children. If you would like to do this and share any extra information please click on your child's classroom and complete.

BOARD UPDATE
School Docs -Our school uses School Docs to manage our school policies and procedures.
The school works on a subscription basis with School Docs to maintain, update, and review our policies. School Docs provides us with a comprehensive core set of policies, which have been well researched and align with the National Education and Learning Priorities. The policies and procedures are tailored to our school, and the school supplies specific information such as our charter, and procedures for behaviour management, reporting to parents, etc.
School Docs updates, modifies, or creates policies in response to changes in legislation or Ministry guidelines, significant events, reviews/requests from schools, and regular reviewing from the School Docs team. Our school board has the opportunity to view changes/additions and comment on them before they are implemented. We will advise you when policies are up for review and how you can take part in the review.
We invite you to visit the site at https://toko.schooldocs.co.nz (note that there's no "www."). Our username is "toko" and password "4392".
FRIENDS OF TOKO SCHOOL
Welcome to the Friends of Toko School (FOTS).
Each year our school community support our school by participating in a variety of events/activities that are fun, sociable and supports your own children's school experience at our great school. Some of the events/activities raise money and others support the school curriculum and general running of the school. We really encourage all of our school families to get involved and to get to know other families in our school.
"Together everyone achieves more"
Our committee meet once or twice per term, term time only and our sub committees meet as required. We are on the lookout for new parents to join our committee and for each family to indicate which events/activities that may be able to assist with during 2025.
Can you please fill in this form to indicate how you can help out during 2025:
Lunch Orders
Please complete the google form to order lunches for your child for Term 1. Lunch Order
INTERVIEWS ON FRIDAY
We are really looking forward to seeing you and your children at school on Friday.
BYOD: If your children are intending on bringing a device to school we will hand out a form at interviews. A new form is completed each year. Please read through expectations at home with your child, sign and return to school on Monday 3rd February. Children will not be able to use BYOD if the form is not returned.
Bus Code of Conduct: These will be handed out if your child will be catching the bus to and from school. Please read through expectations at home with your child, sign and return to school on Monday 3rd February.
Period (Ikura) Products
Just a reminder that these are free to all school aged girls.
We will be handing out a bag to each family in Year 7 & 8 with daughters. This pack will contain, 2x regular pads, 1x liners, 2 x tampons, 1x goodnights pads. This will show you what is available. If you require regular packs you can call into the office each month or we can send them home monthly with your daughter. Please make contact with any of the staff to discuss. If your daughter is not in Room 5 but requires some products please get in contact so we can arrange to get these to you.
Lucky Book Club
These will be handed out at interviews. Orders due by the 3rd March.
FYI . . .
Book Bags
If children are bringing home made book bags to school they need to be made from waterproof fabric. We had a lot of damaged books last year from book bags that were not water proof or were not in book bags. With the swimming season upon us this is even more important.
Vision & Hearing Testing
This will be taking place on 10th February for all Year 7's and some 5 year olds.
Swimming
Please make sure that your children bring their togs and towel, named in a bag. The school employs a swimming instructor for Year 1 - 6 and this takes place on Tuesday and Thursdays. It's expected that all children will swim. If they are unable to swim then a note explaining why will need to be sent to school, and signed.
Toko T.Shirt and Black Bottoms
It is expected that all children will wear the above when on trips, representing the school and or at sporting events, unless a uniform has been supplied. Can you please make sure you have this sorted for the start of the school year and that everything is named and fits. It is quite time consuming and stressful on the morning of an event when children arrive at school without their Toko t.shirt and black bottoms.
SECOND HAND BOOK SALE
We will be having a book sale in the school hall on Tuesday 11th and Wednesday 12th February. All books will be on sale for $2.00. We ask children to bring the money to school and a bag to put the books in they buy.
