Believe, Be You, Belong...at Bates!
Wishing you a wonderful long weekend!
Unofficial start to summer...
Memorial Day weekend has long been known as the unofficial start to summer! While many of us will be enjoying some quick getaways, sneaking in yard work, and otherwise relaxing with family, we take a moment before the excitement of the weekend sets in to remember those who lost their lives defending this great country of ours. Their courage and dedication ensure the freedoms we enjoy every day.
We hope you all have a restful and meaningful Memorial Day weekend!
Have the very best long weekend!

Recruiting Parents/Guardians for Site Council
A school council is a representative, school building-based committee composed of the principal,
parents, teachers, community members and, at the secondary level, students, required to be
established by each school pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 71, Section 59C.
Shout out to our school site council parent members, Michelle Bettencourt and Amber Shomo, who have been on the council for two years and have reached their term limit.
It's time to recruit new members! We meet once a month, typically from 7:45-8:45 on the first Tuesday, starting in September. There are four major areas of responsibility for councils.
School councils are to assist principals in:
- Establishing educational goals for the school that are consistent with the District improvement plan and statewide student performance standards
- Identifying the educational needs of students attending the school and offering recommendations to the school leadership
- Reviewing the annual school budget

Thinking ahead to next year...
Zoom Information Session
Mr. Macarelli, Mr. Lister, and I will soon be sending out the date and time for a parent/guardian information session to address any questions, comments, and/or concerns you have regarding the upcoming school year.
In the meantime, please reach out if you have anything you'd like to discuss in advance of this meeting.
Best regards,
Ms. Smith, Mr. Mac, and Mr. Lister

Box Tops!
Did you know you can earn money for our school just by scanning your grocery receipts? All you need to do is download the Boxtops app, and scan those receipts! Don't want to scan? No worries, you can always send receipts into school with your student in an envelope marked, "PTO Boxtops".
Drop off reminder
Again, we're stressing that if you MUST leave your car during drop off, pull up past the school entrance and drive as far down the sidewalk as possible. Adults are exiting vehicles close to "the rock" causing cars to back up into the street. This is unsafe. Please follow the drop off rules.
Rent the Rock
Our Bates spirit rock is available for weekly rentals. Celebrate your student's birthday or other accomplishments by painting a message on our rock. Please click here to rent the rock!
