Henry Happenings
February 26th, 2024
Principal Message
In February, we have been working on the Dreambox Challenge for math, which seems to be going well based on our initial data. We are thrilled that students are getting additional math practice. On March 1, our One School, One Book and Read-A-Thon initiatives will kick off. Doing them simultaneously will allow for the book we are all reading as a school to count toward minutes of the read-a-thon. Please scroll down for more information!
Your input on how your child learns is important to our decisions on class placement in 2024-2025 for each child. Please take a moment to fill out the survey for each child that you have attending Henry. Thank you so much for your input. Henry Parent Input Form 2024-2025.
Also, as we plan ahead for next year, if you have a child that will be entering Kindergarten in 2024-2025 please register as soon as possible. It is imperative that we know how many students will be in our entering Kindergarten class so we can prepare with the correct number of staff. If you have questions about Kindergarten registration please click here for more information.

One School, One Book March 4 - March 25 at Henry
One School, One Book returns to Henry this March 4th through March 25th! Building a community of readers at Henry Elementary is a long term goal!
As a school, we will all be reading our soon-to-be-revealed book to celebrate our community of readers and foster a love of reading at home with families. Join us in our whole school book club starting on March 4th. The book will be unveiled to students on Friday, March 1st after hints are displayed on the front bulletin board leading up to March 1st. All families will receive a copy of the book that same day that will go home with your oldest/only student. More details coming soon!
Henry to Hold a Read-a-Thon This Year!
Our Read-a-thon starts Friday, March 1st and will run in conjunction with our One School, One Book event.
Look for a handout to come home this week with directions on how to activate your reader's personal page. This is where you will be able to view and record their progress. We encourage you to activate your reader’s account today by clicking here.
We've chosen Read-a-thon because it will not take much of your time, gives your child a reason to read and helps in the development of stronger reading skills.

The Nurse's Office is in need of boys underwear, all sizes, and boys pants, preferably sweatpants or stretchy pants, in sizes 8-10 or M/L.
As a reminder, a child is too sick for school if:
- They have a fever of greater than 100.4 F or higher. Students need to stay home until they are fever free for 24 hours without taking medication to reduce their fever.
- They have vomiting or diarrhea. They should stay home and rest until they are symptom free for 24 hours.
- Severe cough, persistent sinus or nasal congestion, persistent headache and body aches also usually indicate that a child needs to stay home until they are feeling better.

PTO Updates
PTO Restaurant Night at Culver’s of Manchester on Tuesday
Don't forget PTO Restaurant Night at Culver’s on Tuesday, 2/27, between 5 PM and 8 PM. Culver’s of Manchester is located at 14444 Manchester Road, 63011. See the flyer below for more information.
Volulnteer for Multicultural Night on Friday, March 8th
Please consider these ways to volunteer listed below:
- Host a Table - Students and Families can sign up to display items about a country/ethnicity/heritage. Share about the people, customs, languages, fashion, etc. You don’t need to come from the country you represent! You’ll also give out “stamps” so that students can fill up their passports!
- Performance - Encourage your student to take the stage and show off a little bit about their culture! Recite a poem, sing an anthem, dance, show off some fashion!
- Share Food - Bring food from around the world and share with other students. Maybe you can prepare a special dish and have recipe cards to hand out, or you can simply bring pre-packaged treats with notes on where families can purchase locally! The idea here is that we want families to sample flavors from around the world.
Questions can also be emailed to Jose Artiaga.
