Fastbridge MySAEBRS
During the week of October 21st-24th, students at P.J. Jacobs will be taking the FastBridge screener, mySAEBRS. This screener consists of a 20 item rating scale that students complete about their social, academic, and emotional behaviors. It is grounded in a conceptual model which states that school success is predicted not just upon academic achievement, but also success within multiple inter-related behavioral domains.
Parents may choose to opt out of mySAEBRS by providing written omission to the building principal. Students can turn in written notes to the Main Office, or parents/guardians may email Principal Knecht at jknecht@pointschools.net.

Orchestra Concert Reminder
Dear PJ Orchestra Families,
The big moment is almost here! This coming Tuesday, the PJs orchestras will present their fall concert in the PJ Gym at 7:30 pm on October 22. They have worked very hard and are looking forward to celebrating and sharing their musical accomplishments with you. Here is a look at the concert schedule:
7:00 pm - All orchestra students report to room 119 for warm up and tuning
7:30 pm - Concert begins in PJ Gym
8:30 pm - approximate time concert will end
Concert Dress: Solid white waist up and solid back waist down
(it is very important that students look uniform because we are taking the group yearbook picture after each performance) Shoulders, backs and legs covered
Parking: This can be tricky because of the possibility of other events using the parking lot. Please plan accordingly.
Electronic devices: Students are not allowed to have cell phones during the concert. Parents are welcome to record the concert for their personal use, but in silent mode. No flash photography while the students are performing.
Please bring your friends and family! The concert is free and open to the public.
After the concert, I would ask students to come back to the gym and get a chair or stand and take it back to the orchestra room. This helps our custodians greatly. After that, please celebrate with your young musician! I am very proud of how far they have come since the beginning of the year.
Thank you for your support and encouragement. It is an honor to be a small part of your child’s musical journey.
Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Kurt Van Tiem
PJ Orchestra Director

Physical Education Swim Reminder
Dear PJ Jacobs Families,
This letter is to inform you about the PJ Jacobs Junior High swim unit. The goal of this unit is to provide beginner to advanced level instruction including safety skills to grades 7-9. Our 1st semester swim unit will run from Dec. 2nd - 13th. The girls will swim from 12/2 - 12/6, and the boys will swim from 12/9 - 12/13.
The swim unit will last a total of 5 class periods. Please remind your child to bring a swimsuit, towel and anything else they will need to be successful in the pool (ex: goggles, swim cap, etc.). Swimsuits/swim trunks must be school appropriate. Girls are encouraged to wear a one piece suit. If a two piece is worn then a t-shirt should be worn over. Boys can wear athletic shorts but must have a waist tie.
It is important to note that any missed swim classes MUST be made up in the swimming pool either during lunch or during an after school swim make-up day. The ONLY exception will be if a student has a signed note from a doctor excusing them from the swim unit due to a health concern. In this situation the student will need to complete an alternative assignment to receive participation points for the swim unit. Please let the PJ Jacobs PE staff know if you have any questions. We are looking forward to a few great days in the pool!
Sincerely,
PJ Jacobs PE Staff
