Guest Readers
Mrs. Shafer's third grade class at Steeby Elementary is welcoming guest readers almost every day in March because it's READING MONTH! On the first day, they were visited by two amazing readers, Officer Schaefer and Mayor Antel. The class invited them to sign their social contract so they would know how they should expect to be treated by the class - this was student initiated! Officer Schaefer, school resource officer and police officer in the City of Wayland, read "Run Like a Sled Dog" and Mayor Jennifer Antel read "Duck for President". Students enjoyed listening to the books and learning about the guest reader's careers, travels, interests and families. Officer Schaefer even gifted Mrs. Shafer's class a book he purchased on his recent trip to the Keweenaw Peninsula! We love guest readers! If you would like to visit these students and share a book, please contact Mrs. Shafer.
