Supporting One of Our Own
Hello Families,
We are reaching out to share that one of our students is currently facing a significant family hardship. In true Challenger spirit, we are coming together to offer support during this challenging time.
A GoFundMe page has been created to help the family with immediate needs and ongoing support. If you are able and feel moved to contribute, your kindness will make a real difference. Even sharing the link with others can go a long way.
You can find the GoFundMe page here:
Thank you for always showing what it means to be a caring and compassionate school community.
Last Day of School
The last day of school is next Thursday, June 12th. This will be a minimum day dismissal (1:05pm) day.

Board policy on immigration enforcement
The following is being shared from OUSD...
Our district is committed to ensuring all students feel safe and supported at school. As part of this commitment, we are sharing our Board Policy: Response to Immigration Enforcement to keep our community informed about our practices. Here are some additional resources from the California Attorney General’s Office regarding your educational rights.
Alternative format of the Student Family Checklist
Every family should know that every child in the Oceanside Unified School District (OUSD) has the Constitutional right to attend school regardless of immigration status. OUSD does not request or record information about a student’s immigration status. Federal and state laws protect student information from disclosure to others, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). OUSD does not permit non-students, including ICE agents, access to OUSD facilities unless they can produce a warrant signed by a federal judge. School administrators will not permit the disclosure of confidential student information without first consulting their attorney to make sure that the information has been properly subject to a federal judge’s warrant.
Families should consult community resources to learn their rights and additional information will be provided to help families access these resources

Important Reminder: Before School Student Supervision
Dear Families,
Please remember that there is no adult supervision for students before the school gates open at 8:25 AM.

OUSD District Cell Phone Policy
We are excited to share our new cell phone policy, "During the Day, Off and Away," for the 2024-2025 school year (Board Policy 5131.8). Our goal is to create a safe and focused learning environment for all students by minimizing distractions and promoting their mental well-being.
Key Points:
Cell Phone Usage: Students must turn off (ringer/tone/sounds off) and store their phones in their backpacks upon entering campus. Phones should stay off until they leave.
Exceptions: Students with specific accommodations (IEPs, 504 plans, or medical conditions) may have phone access as specified.
Communication: Classrooms have landlines for students to contact parents when necessary. Phones will be accessible in emergencies.
Academic Benefits: Reducing phone usage helps students stay focused and engaged in class.
Safety and Security: This policy helps prevent cyberbullying, ensures students focus during emergencies, and reduces the risk of theft or loss.
Support and disciplinary measures are in place for policy violations to help students adjust.
Thank you for your support as we work together to enhance our students' learning experience and well-being.
Blackboard Communication Platform
OUSD messages families using a platform called Blackboard Communications. This allows teachers and staff to send an email, text or voice message directly to the email address or phone number you have listed in Aeries. You no longer need to download any third party apps to receive messages from OUSD. The only district supported app that families should download is the OUSD app. It’s important that all the adults in your student’s life have updated contact information in Aeries so everyone can receive important messages from your student’s school.
