Welcome to our CTS Snapshot - a weekly celebration update. We are delighted to share with parents and carers alike student triumphs at Corby Technical School. We are proud of every student and every success they have - please feel free to share with us any achievements they might have.

Year 12 Engineers
Our Year 12 Engineers spent two days at Loughborough University this week to give the students an in-depth opportunity to work on the problem and create some models as part of their real life Egineering project.
Cottingham Road Bridge Closure
We would like to remind all parents the bridge has closed today until August 2018. An email has been sent to all parents with the contact details for Network Rail.
Year 7 Festo Trip
A group of Year 7 students visited Festo engineering this week and students had the opportunity to look at pneumatic engineering applications and robotics in the workplace.

- Miss Fenner has nominated her Year 11 English Literature group for their positive attitude and independence towards some new and difficult poetry this week, with special mention to Keali 11T and Logan and Rhys 11C.
- Mr Harley has nominated Beth in 7TE for her excellent work in Design and Technology rendering and shading project, Elijah, Year 11 Engineering for his hard work during the engineering practical lessons and Ana 8S for her great ideas for the Robot design project.
- Mr Gourlay would like to say Well done to the new Year 8 Robotics Team for making such an exemplary start to their Robot Challenge.
- Mr Godfrey has nominated Musa 10C for going far beyond the requirements of the GSCE course for a homework research task in Science.
- Mr Chatfield has nominated the following Year 8 students for participating in the Year 8 Sportshall Athletics, representing our school well and showing respect to the other teams, Ana, Grace, Summer, Shay, Sam C, Ellie B, Tamiska, Charlize, Brady, Rio, Ryan, Declan, Darci, Kiero, Liam and Dagmara.
- Miss Benson has nominated Kyle 10S for excellent work in Geography.
- Mrs Walpole has nominated Bethany 7TE for her positivity this week.
- Mr McRae-Smith has nominated Katie 9S for her hard work in German and her independent learning outside the classroom.
- Miss Watt has nominated Jayme-Lei 7TA for excellent effort and hard work in German and Computing.
- Mrs Ferns and Mr Lee have nominated the Year 11 Maths students for their hard work this week and for all those who took part in Maths Intervention. We hope to see more of you next week!
- Miss Tween has nominated Bella 10T and Kellie 10C for their commitment to learning and Kellie also for her learning outside the classroom.

- Mr Harley has nominated Mr MacLeod for his support with IT and also the facilities team for the excellent job they do in DT and Engineering, and the school as a whole.

Year 8 Athletics
Pictured are some of the Year 8 students who took part in the Sportshall Athletics, the students were fantastic ambassadors for the school.
Visit to CTS by bestselling author - Louise Jensen
Louise visited the school this week and spoke with students from Year 9 to 12, explaining how she became a writer, and also what inspires her writing.
Year 11 Geography Fieldwork Trip
Our Year 11 geographers visited Sheffield as part of their Geography GCSE where they carried out pedestrian counts, traffic counts and shop counts.
Reminders
- Year 10 Parent Consultation Evening will be held on Wednesday 31st January in the George Weston Theatre. A letter will be given to all students.
- Year 9 Parent Consultation Evening will be held on Wednesday 7th February 2018.
