Since 2021, NJSIAA member schools have reported increasing concerns about the behavior of spectators and fans at interscholastic events. There have been reports of fans fighting with coaches, players, and other fans; reports of fans accosting officials; and reports of fans berating players and officials with expletives and bias language.
NJSIAA’s Sportsmanship Rule/Policy requires that “high standards of courtesy, fair play and sportsmanship must be featured at association competitions…good sportsmanship, respect for rules, respect for others, and fair play, are basically the motives through which an interscholastic athletic program is justified and defended….unsportsmanlike conduct shall subject the individual to disciplinary action.”
In January 2024, administrators representing the 41 schools of the Big North Conference and the 37 schools of the New Jersey Interscholastic Conference asked the Executive Committee to develop a spectator code of conduct, for adoption by member schools, to better ensure that all member schools were enforcing the Sportsmanship Rule against fans and spectators.
Saban on Leadership.
“Leadership is about helping somebody else for their benefit, not yours.” - Nick Saban
True leadership isn’t about power. It’s about lifting others up and putting the team first. Lead for impact, not applause.

This season we’re excited about the returning varsity letter winners from previous years and the leadership they bring, as well as the new faces who are excited to contribute. A challenge we’re overcoming is the graduation of 8 seniors, three of which were 4 year varsity letter winners. Our season’s rivals are Morristown, Morris Knolls, Morris Hills, and Randolph. Goals of the season are to continue the tradition of good leadership, improving on the little things, having fun, and supporting individuals in obtaining their personal goals. Our coaching staff is Sirajj Ziyad (Girls Head Coach) Kathleen Cerezo (girls distance/hurdles) and Marcquis Smallwood (Sprints), Khalid Alston (Throws), and Joe Hehn (boys distance/statistician).
Boys Indoor Track and Field
The Boys Indoor Track and Field team is looking forward to the upcoming season. Led by captains Ryan Foley, Cadence Rupprecht, Anthony Collier, and Brayden Shanga the boys team hosts some talented returning varsity athletes. We are focusing on late season performances at Morris County Championships and the state tournament. We expect to have a deep sprints squad and perform well in several relay races and have a few individuals move on past the first round of the state tournament.
Girls Indoor Track and Field
The Girls Indoor Track and Field team is looking forward to a fresh start this year as they graduated a talented class in 2024. Many new faces look to take the reins for the program. Captains Bella Hawken, Trishane Baughton, Jordan Gallagher, Keely Jarvis, and Cristina Reggiani will lead the lady marauders and a large group of underclassmen. The girls program looks to focus on the growth of younger athletes and prioritize individual performances at larger meets such as county championships and the state tournament.
Our goals for this season is to build off of a lot of the learning experiences from last season and compete in the Halverson.
The biggest strength of our team is our goaltending. We have three very capable goaltenders that could start for us and play at a high level to give us a chance to win games.
I think as a coaching staff we are looking for a greater contribution from our blue line. With a great deal of experience on the blue line we return 4 varsity players, we are not looking for them to necessarily produce offensively, but to provide stout performances in the defensive end and provide consistency in our own zone making smart and physical plays to put our front end in an advantageous position.
I think when looking at a hidden x factor, it would be the play of our sophomore class. Ryan Juckett, Dominic Landolfi and Andrew Scelfo all saw time at the varsity level last year and are poised to take a larger role for our team this season.
The Mount Olive Girls Wrestling team is excited for the upcoming wrestling season. The Marauder lineup will be a mix of experienced wrestlers alongside beginners who are eager to get on the mat and compete. In their second official dual meet season, the Marauders hope to build upon the successes of last season and bring home some hardware at the very competitive NJAC Championships. A competitive schedule has been put together including matches against a number of top programs, tournaments, and jamborees. The coaching staff is looking to get a couple of girls to Atlantic City for the NJSIAA State Championships this year.
Leading the Marauders this year are our senior captains, Tyler Cumming and Tanner Perez. Both of these athletes have demonstrated exceptional leadership and dedication to the sport, and they will be key in guiding the team throughout the season. Their experience and commitment will inspire their teammates to strive for excellence on the mat.
One of the strengths of this year's team is its depth. With many returning starters, there is a strong foundation for the team to build upon. This depth allows for healthy competition among team members, which can lead to improved performance. Each wrestler will have the chance to contribute to the team's success, whether they are in the starting lineup or supporting from the sidelines.
As the season progresses, fans can expect to see exciting matches filled with hard work, determination, and sportsmanship. The Marauders are committed to not only achieving their goals but also to representing their school and community with pride.
The Mount Olive Girls Basketball team is excited to start the 2024 season! Led by captains Mia Zebi, Madi Hazen, and Alayna Attry, the Marauders are ready to face tough competition in the National Division and work toward a successful season. With a great mix of experienced players and talented newcomers, the team is focused on teamwork, growth, and reaching their goals.
Guided by Coach Ian Redmond, the Marauders are putting in the effort to make this season one to remember. We’re thankful for the support from our fans to cheer on the team as they Create the Legacy!
The Mount Olive Boys Basketball team is eager to start their 2024-2025 campaign. Led by captains Duron Rodriguez and Jared Welsch, the MO Boys Hoops squad looks to have a strong showing in the very strong NJAC-National division. After graduating 4 starters, our program is very excited to see many young players flourish in their new roles as impact players. The boys are very excited for our home Senior Night Vs. Rival Roxbury on February 18th at 7 PM. Please come out tro support our Mount Olive Basketball Marauders this season!
