Principal's Note
Hello Millis Small School Big Family,
Today will be a day that's hard to beat! Millis had the distinct honor of hosting the Five Town Special Olympics today and our entire community came out to support these amazing athletes. The energy was electric and the joy was abundant! Kudos to our Special Education, Facilities, and administrative teams for making this day so special and impactful.
Thank you to Mrs. Molly Saccardo and her wonderful Poetry Club students for their trip to the Senior Center where a few students shared selected poems and haiku activity.
Just before the April break we had our monthly All School Assembly. We talked about the importance of safety and kindness. We've been noticing an uptick in bumping and pushing and comments about other people's bodies- short, tall, big and small. We talked extensively that we all get to impact what sort of community we have here at MMS and that kindness and safety are top priorities for us.
We wanted to recognize a few of our students for their willingness to help out and for their courage to present inspiring women for Women's History Month. Students selected impactful women and presented some highlights during our assembly. It's never easy to present in front of hundreds of people and we were so proud of the great job by: Nate E., Gabby T., Pete A., Lorenzo S., Logan B., Jacob M., Lauren B., Colin A. and Johnny A.
Also, our eighth grade teachers are making arrangements for their completion festivities. Next week's field trip behavior contracts have gone home today- please keep an eye out for those and return with your signature. We are allowing cell phones for our eighth graders, with specific expectations so please connect with your child about those and affirm appropriate use! Our hope is that all students are safe and fully present for all of the experiences this day brings!
Please save the date of Thursday, June 13th for class day, the completion ceremony and dance!
Millis hosted the Five-Town Special Olympics at our school this year!
The Special Olympics was held on campus with a huge welcoming to all the athletes from our student body and staff from CFB, Millis Middle and Millis High Schools. What a huge honor it was for us! We are so proud of all the athletes, they did a such an amazing job. Wow!!

Can’t Miss Parent Night Presentation May 2!
Self Help Tour Founder
Kaleb Joseph
As part of our ongoing Millis Public Schools Speaker Series, please join us on Thursday, May 2nd, at 7pm, in the MHS/MMS auditorium, for a special parent presentation by Kaleb Joseph, founder of the Self Help Tour and a Mental Health Advocate. Kaleb has recently been featured by a number of local and regional media outlets for his impactful presentation, and thanks to a generous grant from the KyleCares Foundation, we are proud to bring him to our Millis school community.
A native of Nashua, NH, who attended Cushing Academy, Kaleb Joseph was one of the nation's top basketball point guard recruits. He went on to play college basketball for his dream school, Syracuse University, but the pressure and expectations of college basketball led him down a dark path of anxiety and addiction. During this powerful parent session on May 2nd, Kaleb will interact with parents to show them how to build deeper connections and relationships with their kids. He equips parents with the tools to manage their kids through all the ups and downs of being a young person. He will talk about the importance of leaning into vulnerability to really strengthen relationships with their children. This will cap off Kaleb’s day in Millis, where he will also speak to MHS students during the school day. We look forward to seeing you on May 2nd, for what promises to be a powerful evening for our school community.
You can learn more about Kaleb through this video recently featured by Good Morning America, and through this video about his Self Help Tour. You can also check out this clip on Instagram from one of his recent parent conversations. What's been happening in the Millis Middle
