Chester Elementary School
September 19, 2022. A year of significance!
CES Happenings
Hello to all of you. How quickly the weather has changed! Sweltering last week and jackets this week. Rain is even in the forecast this weekend and into next week...we'll take it. On another note, it's time to brag on our teachers, students and families for the amazing results to date for our Ultra Fun Run jog-a-thon event. THANK YOU! We'll keep you posted regarding the final number, but the success to date has been nothing short of remarkable (see below). The funds raised will allow us to create experiences for your children that would not have otherwise happened! I can't wait to see how we finish. Huge thanks also to Mrs. Crowther for spearheading this for us. It's happening because of her leadership. Thanks also for the efforts of Ms. Alisha and Mrs. Brooke. This exciting fundraising event concludes next Friday with an all-school run at 8:30 a.m. for grades K-3 and 8:50 for grades 4 & 5. Hope you can make it and help cheer on our students.
Sincerely,
Scott Cory
Principal

Spotlight: Lara Twitchell
Lara Twitchell, originally from Detroit, Michigan, joined the CES team in 2015. Mrs. Twitchell, a graduate of Michigan State University for her Bachelors and Pepperdine University for her Masters in Education, has been a teacher for twenty-eight years. Mrs. Twitchell was drawn to the teaching field because of her love for her own teachers who made learning fun and exciting.
Mrs. Twitchell finds that teaching offers her the opportunity to do something extremely meaningful in the world. She loves the Outdoor Core program that is part of students CES experiences and she loves adventuring with them to explore our local landscapes.
Outside of school, Mrs. Twitchell loves cooking, yoga, biking, and spending time with her animals. When she has the chance, Mrs. Twitchell loves attending live theater performances. Mrs. Twitchell dreams about visiting Vancouver, Canada where she can enjoy the beauty of the ocean and Pacific Northwest and also be close to an urban city with cultural events.
Spotlight: Nicholle Crowther
Ms. Crowther is a wonderful teacher at Chester Elementary School. A native of Lake Almanor and graduate of Chester Elementary and Chester High School, Ms. Crowther attended UC Davis for her Bachelors degree and San Francisco for her Masters degree.
Ms. Crowther, a twenty year teacher, has taught in Sacramento, San Francisco, and London. Her favorite place to teach is at Chester Elementary because she loves the creativity and loves getting the CES Mountain Kids into the outdoors. Ms. Crowther's favorite areas to teach are language arts, science, and social studies. She loves the fourth grade Year of the Trout curriculum and California History. One of her favorite books to read to students is One and Only You.
When Ms. Crowther is away from CES, she loves being with her family, enjoying the outdoors, and travelling. She also loves reading, the color red, a hot cup of tea, and dreaming about eating Cadbury Mini Eggs.
