From the Principal
Hello Jefferson Families,
I hope your Spring Break is off to a great start! Amazingly, April is now here, and after a week off, we will return to school on April 8th and begin the final stretch of the 2023-24 school year.
When we return, our staff will be extremely intentional about revisiting our school-wide Charger Expectations with all students. As you can see from the picture above, our four core expectations are that we are: Safe, Respectful, Responsible and Kind.
When we return, teachers and staff will be explicitly teaching expectations for all areas of the school: classroom, walkways, restrooms, cafeteria, playground, bus line-up area, and more. A particular point of emphasis will be playground expectations. We expect that each student has a positive, safe and active experience each time they go to recess. We will be utilizing visuals to communicate expectations, and we will also be utilizing a reset area (much like we do in classrooms) for students who need to take a couple of minutes to gather themselves before re-entering a recess activity.
In the same spirit of student safety and the smooth operation of our school, I would like to humbly ask you follow our parking lot expectations. It's no secret we have a small parking lot. With that said, we really need your help with the following:
- Please remember to drop-off and pick-up only at the curb. Parking is only allowed in parking stalls, and there should never be cars parked along any stretch of the curb or double parked anywhere in the lot. Knowing the number of cars often outnumbers our stalls, plan to park down at the park and ride down the street and walk up to school.
- Please also remember to use our crosswalks where our safety patrol students flag and cross people. Please refrain from walking out through the cars.
- If you pick-up your child on 27th ( a great option to avoid the busy parking lot), please remember to not wait in the walkways. Utilize street parking along the side streets, notably 92nd and the opposite side of 27th by 92nd.
Thank you for modeling safety and civility for our students as we attempt to safely and efficiently dismiss 515 students each day.
At the very end of the month (April 30th), we will begin our annual state testing for 3rd-5th graders, and that will continue on throughout the month of May. For your advanced planning, here is our schedule:
- Tuesday April 30th: 5th grade English/Language Arts Performance Task, part 1
- Wednesday May 1st: 5th grade English/Language Arts Performance Task, part 2
- Thursday May 2nd: 4th grade English/Language Arts Performance Task, part 1

From the Music Room
Hello Jefferson Families! Our K-2 concert at the Everett Civic Auditorium is now only a few weeks away! All songs are now available to view and practice in your child’s Canvas Music course. To view, you just need to access http://everettsd.instructure.com/ then use your child’s school ID number @apps.everettsd.org as the username, and the same password they use to log in to their computer at school.
We are using recorders in grades 3, 4 and 5. Our Baroque-style soprano recorders were purchased by the PTA for Jefferson students to use. Each child is assigned a numbered recorder and will use that recorder for the rest of the year in the music room. They will also have the option to check it out to practice at home.
If you would like to purchase a recorder for your child, please check to see that it is the same style - a Baroque soprano recorder. I recommend purchasing from a local music store like Kennelly Keys/American music, located at 7903 Evergreen Way, Everett WA, 98203. They have many great choices for under $10. If you need to order online, here are a few affordable options to choose from:
