A NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
LCTC Community,
Thank you for taking the time to meet with us during parent-teacher conferences last week. We enjoyed the opportunity to share your student’s progress with you.
This week, we hosted an event in partnership with Ford Motor Company and Bill Brown Ford, where our students had the opportunity to connect with representatives to explore job shadowing and internship opportunities. Additionally, we were fortunate to receive two donated 2024 Mustangs for our Auto Program. A big thank you to Bill Brown Ford for their support.
Congratulations to Gary Mann, one of our Criminal Justice instructors, on being named Secondary Educator of the Year!
To gather valuable feedback from the LCTC community, we have created the following survey as part of our ongoing School Improvement and Quality Review Process. The insights we collect will help us better serve the needs of our students and families. We greatly appreciate your input and would be thankful if you could take a few moments to complete the survey.
As always, feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
Have a wonderful weekend!
With LCTC Pride,
Lindsay Gray

AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY NEWS!
Our Automotive Technology Program welcomed Ford Motor Company and Bill Brown Ford for a special student event celebrating Bill Brown Ford's donation of two 2024 Ford Mustangs for our Automotive program.
Because of this generous donation, students will have the opportunity to explore complex automotive systems, practice diagnostics and repair, and work with modern technology—all essential skills in today’s automotive industry. By working directly on these high-performance vehicles, the students will not only enhance their technical knowledge but also gain invaluable confidence and competence. The Mustangs will allow us to expand our curriculum, offering more challenging projects and preparing our students to excel in real-world automotive careers.
Thank you Ford Motor Company and Bill Brown Ford!!!!
CRIMINAL JUSTICE CLASSES
SFC. Thomas Misiolek of the U.S. Army speaks to students about the opportunities the Army offers to soldiers. Highlights included job training, career readiness upon discharge, college tuition assistance and world travel.
Students participate in peer-led training. Students directed, guided, and assessed their classmates while using a driving simulator. Afterwards, students debriefed the successful points in training and worked to improve on the points which were deficient.
The Michigan Army National Guard spoke to Criminal Justice students about the opportunities available after graduation. Students were able to explore the MATV armored vehicle.
2023 Stevenson High School graduate Gabriella Lamacchia returned to LCTC to discuss opportunities offered by the Michigan Army National Guard. PFC Lamacchia is Military Police trained and is currently attending classes at Schoolcraft College.
CONGRATULATIONS FORMER STUDENTS
The Wayne County Regional Police Academy held its graduation ceremony on Friday November 8, 2024, at Schoolcraft College. There was a strong LPS presence as three of the graduates attended Churchill High School and the Livonia Career Technical Center.
Jake Mercieca (center), class of 2015, sworn in as an officer and photographed with the Garden City Police Department command staff. Antoneta Bucaj, class of 2022, sworn in as a Farmington Hills police officer and Andrew Gonzales (pictured with his family), class of 2020, was sworn in as a Westland police officer.
All three successfully passed 17 weeks of rigorous training, which included tactical training, self-defense, defensive driving, and hundreds of hours of academic work. All three will be required to complete a field training program lasting approximately six-months. In field training, they will perform law enforcement duties under the direct supervision of a senior training officer. They will receive daily feedback reports and these daily reports will be considered in determining whether or not they pass the training program. Best of luck to all three of these officers.
CAREER INTERN PROGRAM
The Career Internship Program's Mckenna Moore (FHS) on duty with Canton Police.
ENGINEERING DESIGN CLASSES
Andrew Uladzek was a 2019 Engineering Design student where he was introduced to Bio Mechanical Engineering and is now a Project Engineer in the Biomedical Engineering Department at Lawrence Technological University. Andrew came in as a presenter to speak to the students about the field of Engineering at Lawrence Technological University.
PRE-SPORTS MEDICINE CLASS
Ms.G's Pre-Sports Medicine class has been learning about the cardiovascular system and recently reviewed heart anatomy and circulatory blood flow by identifying structures on a cookie in the shape of a human heart. They were then challenged to paint the structures in the heart that carry deoxygenated blood blue and the structures that carry oxygenated blood red. They used edible paint so that after the lab was complete, they could help with clean-up by eating the cookies!
AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY CLASSES
Honoring our veterans with students learning and discussing the history and the marvels automotive technology brought forth to the wartime efforts.

Supporting Youth Going Back to School
Dear Parents and Guardians of the Livonia Public Schools School Community,
As the new school year begins, supporting our youth's mental health is more important than ever. The new school year can bring feelings of both anxiety and excitement as students transition into a new grade, perhaps a new school, and are all in turn learning and growing into who they are.
We have provided a Back to School resource packet for parents and teachers who are navigating through this time. Click here to access to the flyer.
By working together, we can create an environment where our children thrive. Remember, Care Solace offers valuable mental health care coordination services to connect you with community-based providers for counseling, therapy, and more.
To access Care Solace:
- Call 888-515-0595: Their multilingual helpline is staffed 24/7/365.
- Visit www.caresolace.com/livonia: Explore mental health providers independently or click "Book Appointment" for personalized assistance.
By joining hands as a community, we can provide a nurturing environment that supports the mental health and well-being of our youth. Let's prioritize their emotional growth and create a brighter future together.
Thank you for being dedicated parents in the Livonia Public Schools community. Your commitment to our youth is truly commendable.
