4-H Water Watchers - A Conservation Partnership
2024 marks the 8th year Lake County 4-H'ers have partnered with the Lake County Soil and Water Conservation District to explore and protect local waterways. Youth in grades 6-10 spend six weeks building their skills as citizen scientists:
- Collecting samples and data with new tools & resources
- Connecting nature and recreation through learning
- Stewarding nature as part of a team
Ranch Pleasure Class Horse Clinic
A horse clinic, led by Jill McNamara, allowed 4-H'ers to learn with their horses. Participants practiced the free-flowing stride of Ranch Pleasure Class riding and received individual instruction and advice for competition.
Project Fun Day
Lake County's Ambies planned, organized, and led younger 4-H'ers through a morning of activities including still-life painting, casting ceramic stepping stones, preparing a strawberry shortcake snack, scavenger hunting for insects, and designing paper airplanes.
Livestock Workshop
A free Rabbit & Poultry Workshop was conducted by regional 4-H folks, and it included hands-on experience in caring for your animal, showing your animal, and considering health, nutrition, and biosecurity issues that could affect your animal.
