Greenacres November Newsletter

From the Principals Desk
In John F. Kennedy Jr's 1961 Veteran's Day Speech, he leads by saying "when we are presented with moments of great responsibility, we would do right to recall the great sacrifice made by many, so as to permit us the ability to occupy such a great nation that affords us these responsibilities". At Greenacres we are extremely grateful for the men and women that have served in our armed forces. Our gratitude stems from knowing that because of them we can live in our great nation, attend this great school, and enjoy the freedoms we have. As I sit in my office writing this, my eye continually catches the shadow of our flag waving in the wind. Therefore I am filled with the responsibility to say, and from a place of sincere appreciation; thank you. Enjoy your day off from school on Monday the 11th!
On another note, we do have conference week coming up soon. I know that all of our teachers sent out their links this week. This is a great opportunity to hear about your child's progress academically and what their trajectory for the year will be. We do encourage 100% participation and look forward to seeing you soon!
Warmly,
Brandon Dunn

Giving Tree
Greenacres Elementary will be sponsoring the Giving Tree Program for identified families that need extra assistance for the upcoming holiday season. The Giving Tree will be located in the office beginning November 20th. For each student already identified, a tag will be placed on the tree with a number for staff and community members to pick. This tag will need to be brought back with the wrapped gift(s). All students and families remain anonymous. For Greenacres this is always a very special time of year, as the true meaning of giving is always astounding, as well as the strong sense of community that is present. Please stop by, pick up a tag and show your support! Gifts need to be turned in by December 11th. Please call or email with any questions, Christina Belknap (509)558-4213, cbelknap@cvsd.org.
