NEWSLETTER | TERM 1 | WEEK 5 | 1 MARCH 2024
Our Year Four Assembly on Thursday was a timely reminder about the importance of kindness and how sometimes we forget about the impact that this has on us all ... young people and adults. During the Lenten season maybe, this could be at the forefront of our thinking as we enter the second half of Term One.
Thank you to our P&F for the ‘Welcome Back Sundowner’ on Wednesday night. While attendance was lower than last year, it was a great afternoon of relaxing on the grass and catching up with the old and new friends. The first big fundraiser for the year will be an ‘Easter Disco’ on Thursday March 21 so save the date for this one. More information to come soon!
A couple of quick reminders. Classroom doors open at 8:15am and school concludes at 2:50pm. Please do not arrive at school any earlier than 8:10am in the morning or 2:40pm in the afternoon. Secondly, any student whose hair is touching their collar or covering eyes must be tired up or clipped back neatly, with hair bands/clips/ribbons in our school colours. Please do not come to school with claw clips as students will be asked to remove them.
Lastly, a reminder that school will be closed on Tuesday, March 5 due to a Staff Professional Development Day.
Enjoy your extra long weekend!
God bless
Rebecca Clarke

The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN)
NAPLAN is an assessment conducted annually in Australian schools. It provides valuable insights into the literacy and numeracy skills of students across the country.
The results of the assessment help us identify areas of strength and areas for improvement, both at an individual level and within our school community.
It’s important to note that while NAPLAN provides valuable data, it is just one measure of a student’s abilities, and it does not encompass the full range of skills and talents that our students possess. Therefore, it’s essential to approach NAPLAN with a balanced perspective, emphasising the importance of doing one’s best while also maintaining a positive attitude towards learning and growth.
The assessment schedule is as below for both Year 3 and Year 5 Students:
Wednesday 13 March: Writing and Reading
Thursday 14 March: Reading Comprehension
Monday 18 March: Conventions of Language and Numeracy
Tuesday 19 March Catch up testing
Wednesday 20 March Catch up testing
Thursday 21 March: Catch up testing
Leading up to NAPLAN, students will have an opportunity to complete a practice test to familiarise themselves with the layout of the assessment and time constraints.
Here are a few tips to support your child in preparing for the NAPLAN assessment:
- Encourage regular attendance at school and punctuality.
- Ensure your child gets plenty of rest each night before school.
- Provide a nutritious breakfast.
- Students complete assessments everyday as part of the class and school procedures. Please encourage your child to approach this assessment with a positive mindset, focusing on their abilities and efforts rather than feeling pressured by the test.

The P & F would like to thank all those that attended the Family Sundowner on Wednesday. It was lovely to see staff, students and their families come together for an evening of outdoor games, football, dancing and playing with friends. We would like to welcome those new to our school community, and look forward to seeing you again soon.
An enormous thank you to those behind the scenes that helped plan, set up and clean up at the end of the event. We are so grateful!
We would also like to acknowledge the efforts of the team that prepared breakfast for the parish at St Anthony's Wanneroo on 18th of February, to celebrate the annual Teachers' Commissioning Mass. Thank you for your ongoing support. The P & F has committed to preparing morning tea following mass on June 2nd and September 1st. Donations of baked goods would be greatly appreciated, and further information will be provided at a later date.
The Dad’s Campout is now only two weeks away.
Campsites are selling fast, with only a few spots remaining. Please book soon to avoid disappointment.
If you would like to be in the running to win the coveted VIP car bay for Term 2, tickets are now available to purchase online. The winner will be drawn as soon as all lucky numbers are sold.
We are busy planning an Easter Disco for the students in Week 8. Please keep Thursday 21st free for a fun night out - details to follow soon!
The P & F will meet again on Monday, 18th of March. We would love to see you there.
