A Message from Principal Cutone
November 22, 2024
Dear HES Families and Caregivers,
It has been another wonderful week here at HES! Our fourth-grade ambassadors led an inspiring All Shark Meeting focused on the theme of Managing Our Emotions. Through skits, slideshows, and posters, they taught their fellow Sharks valuable strategies for navigating strong feelings. I had the joy of reading the picture book Big Feelings by Alexandra Penfold and Suzanne Kaufman, and Ms. Riley, Mr. Weimer, and students from Ms. Piknick’s fourth-grade class led us in The Breathing Song. This meaningful assembly brought our community together, and we look forward to continuing the conversation about emotions in classrooms and schoolwide activities in the weeks to come.
As we approach the upcoming school break, I want to express my gratitude for the privilege of serving this amazing community. This season often reminds us to reflect on what we value and cherish most, including the relationships that help our school thrive.
For those who celebrate Thanksgiving, I hope it brings time to connect and reflect with loved ones. For everyone in our HES family, I wish you a peaceful and restorative break. Please do not hesitate to reach out if there’s anything I can do to support you.
All my best,
Christie

Call the Attendance Line If Your Shark Is Absent
Per the handbook, if your child is unable to attend school, please enter the absence in PickUp Patrol and/or call our designated attendance line, 617-848-0115, as early as possible. Soon after arrival, our office staff begins to call the caregivers of absent students if we haven't already heard from them. This is important, as we want to ensure that all students are safe. Your phone message with the reason for the absence is all we need. While an email to the teacher is helpful, it sometimes doesn't make its way to the office staff. Thank you for your help!
