Kindergarten & New Student Registration: Kindergarten and New Student Registration is now open. Please click on the link below to begin registration. Returning Student Registration will open in the Spring. Stay tuned for more info.
Kindergarten & New Student Registration
Registration Fees and Purchases: Starting with the 2023-2024 school year, we will be migrating from Pushcoin to My School Bucks as our online payment portal. We anticipate My School Bucks will be available by the time Returning Student Registration is open.
PLEASE DO NOT DEPOSIT ANY NEW FUNDS INTO YOUR PUSHCOIN ACCOUNT
Please log into your existing Pushcoin account to verify any outstanding balances. We ask that you pay any remaining balances by February 28, 2023. Please note any remaining funds in your Pushcoin will NOT be transferred to My School Bucks.
More information regarding My School Bucks will be available in the upcoming months.
OLSAT Testing: Next week teachers will be administering the Otis-Lennon School Ability Test (OLSAT) to1st-4th grade students. The test assesses reasoning and problem solving, using verbal (word), quantitative (number), and nonverbal (picture-figure-spatial relationship) symbols. The test is approximately 60-70 minutes in length, depending on the grade level. Test results will be shared with families.
This test is administered to our students for the purpose of identifying the range of abilities in our district. It allows us to gather information on how well our programs match our students’ learning strengths and needs. This information is valuable for our district-wide school improvement efforts. It helps us determine the best use of our district resources. The OLSAT scores are just one source of data we use to help us plan for student and curriculum needs. In addition we use teacher recommendations, classroom performance, Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) scores, and other classroom assessment results when making programming decisions.
5Essentials Survey: The Bloomingdale SD13 participates in the annual Illinois 5Essentials Survey that collects feedback from our students, teachers, and parents. Your participation in the parent portion of the survey will give you the opportunity to share your thoughts on important elements of school effectiveness. The responses will help us understand the conditions at your child’s school and guide our improvement efforts. All responses are confidential and will never be connected to you or your child.
The Parent Survey is currently open and will remain so through March 11, 2023. To take the survey, please visit https://survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois/ and select the appropriate survey.
All Bloomingdale SD13 teachers, as well as students in 4th - 8th grade, are being asked to complete this survey. 5Essentials Reports will be generated for schools if their teachers and/or students meet the response rate threshold of 50 percent. Teachers will work with students to assist them with logging in and taking the student survey.
On behalf of the Illinois State Board of Education, the Illinois 5Essentials Survey is administered online by UChicago Impact at the University of Chicago. The survey gathers data related to five indicators that can predict important student outcomes, including improved attendance and larger test score gains. These five indicators that affect and predict school success are:
- Effective Leaders
- Collaborative Teachers
- Involved Families
- Supportive Environments
- Ambitious Instruction
We value your feedback and appreciate you taking the time to provide us with your input.
For more information about the Illinois 5Essentials Survey, or if you have any questions or concerns, please contact 5Essentials Client Services at 1-866-440-1874 or 5essentials@uchicago.edu.

Lead Like a Jaguar
At DuJardin, we want students to become leaders who model a positive attitude (growth mindset), set and achieve positive goals, understand and manage emotions, show empathy for others, and make responsible decisions (solve problems). Teachers will be using the Second Step curriculum & other resources to help ensure our students #LeadLikeJaguars.
Focus for January 9 - March 7th: Empathy & Kindness: Students learn how to recognize kindness and act kindly toward others, how to develop empathy for others and take others’ perspectives, and how to act with empathy.
