WELCOME TO KINDERGARTEN
ELA We will begin right away with getting to learn about ourselves, each other and our school. We will make each child feel safe and excited for this new experience.
We will read books that focus on beginning school and feelings. We will focus on the roles of an author and illustrator.
PHONICS We use a program called HEGGERTY. This is a 10 minute daily activity that will help your child begin to read. We will focus on rhyme, isolating initial and final consonant sounds, blending, segmenting, adding, deleting and substituting compound words.
MATH Introducing numbers 0-5.
We will also introduce our P.A.W.S. program (Play Fairly · Act Kindly · Work Hard · Show Respect). This is our classroom expectation/management program. Students will have the opportunity to earn a stamp on their hand at the end of the day to show they are modeling our classroom expectation.
- Aug. 18- Meet the Teacher Pep Rally

ClassDojo: If you have not already done so, PLEASE download the ClassDojo app. We will be using ClassDojo for our mass communication tool in the classroom as well the school. This platform ensures parents receive information in one consistent place! Be on the lookout for a link to be sent to the phone number or email you listed during registration. This is the way we will share class pictures, celebrations and messages.
HOMEWORK PACKETS: Every Monday your child will come home with a homework packet for the week. This packet is due back the following Monday. You only need to return the signed top copy. This is for your convenience of completing when you are able throughout the week. This packet is for your child to practice skills we learn in class each week. The first packet will go home the first week of September.
SNACKS: Students are allowed to bring in their own snack or one will be provided. Snack time is 2:30-2:40.
VOLUNTEERS! In order to volunteer for future field trips and parties, all adults must have a background check on file each year. If you previously completed this for another child, you are still required to complete a new one for the 2023-24 school year. You can call the main office for an application.
iPads
We will be using our iPads daily to access Freckle and other learning apps. The iPads are stored securely in our classroom and charged overnight.

TRANSPORTATION: Please leave the bus label on their backpack until we have learned their bus information. The kids are getting pretty good at knowing where they are going at the end of the day, but we’d like to make sure that they don’t forget over the long weekend. If you need to contact transportation:
