May 2025 Newsletter
A Message From The Administration Team
Dear Families,
As we enter the final month of the school year, we are filled with pride for all that our students have accomplished and excitement for the milestones still to come. May is a time to finish strong—both academically and personally—and we encourage all students to stay focused and give their best effort, especially during upcoming testing. We also invite you to join us in celebrating your child’s growth at our upcoming student-led conferences and end-of-year events. These moments provide a wonderful opportunity to reflect on achievements, share successes, and build lasting memories together.
Best,
Mrs. Fowler, Mrs. Austin, and Mrs. Cotter

Please spread the word throughout your neighborhoods and community as well for any child living in our attendance zone that will be five by 9/1/25. Click on the picture below to register!
Upcoming Events
Testing
Students in 3rd-5th grades will participate in SC READY testing over the next two weeks. It's very important that your child arrives by 7:30 am and is present on testing days. If your child arrives after testing has begun, he/she will be required to take the test on a make-up testing day. Students will not be able to have early dismissals once testing has started. We have so many activities packed in to the month of May it is possible that your child miss out on something if they have to take the make-up test.
Field Day
Field Day is May 16th. Our PE department has worked really hard to create fun activites for your children. Your child may wear sunscreen, hats, and/or sunglasses on this day. Students in grades K5-3rd will participate in water games so boys may wear swim trunks with shirts and girls may choose to wear a swimsuit UNDER their clothes. Students may bring towels and a change of clothes, but please make sure names are written on all towels and articles of clothing in case they are lost.
Field Day is a student-only event due to safety and space restrictions.
End of Year Celebrations
Please make arrangements to attend your child's End Of Year Celebration this month. If you are unable to attend, please send a VIP in your place! Due to space limitations, we are asking that a maximum of 2 guests per student attend. If there are extenuating circumstances requiring seating for more, please let your child's teacher know.
During this time you will see highlights of your child's year at ACA. The student is in charge during the student-led conference portion in the classroom. They will celebrate the goals they have accomplished, show work samples from throughout the year, and share fond memories from their 2024-2025 school year. Students and teachers have been working really hard to make this a special time for you and your child. We look forward to seeing you soon!
Summer Reading at ACA
Miss Koon has some exciting summer reading incentives! She has created two different challenges for students this summer. It is so important that your children keep reading over the summer to prevent summer slide. Your child will get a copy at school, but you can also find the reading challenges on our website over the summer! If you complete the big challenge you will earn this cool shirt to wear to our first Gator Assembly!

Library with Miss Koon
STEM Studio with Mrs. Jung
In PLTW/STEM, first grade students are researching the sun and its harmful ultraviolet rays. They explored ways to protect their bodies from sun exposure by experimenting with light, heat, and UV rays. Using UV-activated beaded bracelets, students observed firsthand how UV rays affect materials and how protection can help.
Literary Arts with Mrs. Elliott
First graders prepare short scripts in Literary Arts to show off their newfound performance skills at their end-of-the-year celebration. All year long they have worked on improving their projection and expression to speak to audiences.
Art with Mrs. Kirby
1st graders are using marker painting to paint their rainbow birds. They are studying color theory and how it is used in art.
