Our 4th and 5th grade music concerts will be held at the Urbandale High School Performing Arts Center on Tuesday April 2nd at the following times:

• 6:00-6:30 ~ 4th Grade

• 7:00-7:30 ~ 5th Grade

Please be sure to arrive 15 minutes before the start of your child's performance. This concert is FREE to attend and there are no guest restrictions for the performance.

A dress rehearsal will be held the morning of the program so the children may become familiar with the stage and auditorium. Students will travel with their classroom teachers by bus to the Urbandale High School for this dress rehearsal.

ISASPs are quickly approaching. Please keep in mind when scheduling appointments during these testing days. All 3rd-5th graders will take the ISASP's at Valerius on April 15-19. Make Ups will take place the following week.

UMS is inviting parents of incoming 6th graders to an informational meeting on April 29th from 5:30pm - 6:30pm in the UMS East Gym. Translators are available upon request so please call the school at 515-457-6600 if you would like a translator. 5th Grade students will be coming to tour the middle school with their class in May, this meeting is for parents and guardians. If you are unable to attend this meeting, a video of the presentation will be made available to you.

School registration for the 2024–2025 school year is open! Please review the following information for registering your child for school in the Urbandale Community School District for the 24-25 school year. Join us for the first annual Valerius Elementary Plant Sale! Choose from a variety of house plants, pots, and veggies, raised by the Valerius PTO. More specific activity details and vendors will be released soon. Mark your calendar and come get a special gift for Mother's Day!

Safety City is a week-long summer program for children entering kindergarten in the fall of 2024. Children will learn about traffic safety, fire safety, home, playground and other kinds of personal safety in an entertaining, positive environment. To make learning about safety fun, Safety City incorporates songs, story books, films, games, and artwork in addition to riding Big Wheels in a mock city setting. Safety City also provides the experience of riding on a school bus to the Urbandale Police and Fire Departments for tours. Safety City is taught by Urbandale Police Officers and staff who are assisted by a team of student helpers.
