BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING: DECEMBER 17, 2024

Update from the Board President

Board President Jayma Bammerlin thanked Mr. Joe Rowe, Principal of Northridge High School, for his leadership over the past 2 years, noting his service to the district and wishing him well in his retirement. She also congratulated Mrs. Rebecca Brechbill, the current Assistant Principal at Northridge Elementary School, on her promotion to High School Principal. While Mr. Rowe will be greatly missed, she has faith that Ms. Brechbill will continue to lead the school into the future.

President Bammerlin thanked the Board for its work throughout the year and wished everyone a happy and restful holiday season.

Update from the Superintendent

Dr. Michael echoed Ms. Bammerlin’s comments, extending well wishes to Mr. Rowe and expressing confidence in Ms. Brechbill’s ability to excel in her new role.

Dr. Michael gave an overview of the 3rd Grade Fall Ohio State English Language Arts Test results. Northridge students have a much higher scale score than in previous years, with more students scoring advanced and accelerated than in previous years. Dr. Michael also shared that the 3rd graders scored significantly higher than the state average. Third-graders take this test again in the spring.

Treasurer Update

Mr. Lewis gave a presentation on the increases between the FY24 May 5-year forecast, which is based on actual costs, and the new FY25 5-year forecast, which is based on forecasted costs from revenues and budgets.

Donations

The board is always grateful for the community’s generosity and voted to accept the following donations:

$422 from TrueNorth for “The Giving Pump” stations across Ohio
$5,000 from The Columbus Foundation Governing Committees and the Battelle Foundation Fund for Laura Roberts’ STEM classroom
$2,600 from the Licking County Foundation for the 2024 Tibbie Leslie Travel Grant for Educators honoring Chris Haraszkiewicz
$1027.40 from LCSO Citizen Police and the ACAD Alumni Association for a backpack drive.
$1307.27 from Cheryl Bower for books and math materials for the elementary school.
