Highlights from Last Week

RED RIBBON WEEK 2023: Recognized nationally, Red Ribbon Week is an alcohol, tobacco, smoking, and other drug and violence prevention awareness campaign. Last week LVMS held a Spirit Week with events each day to promote drug use prevention.


ANNUAL PINK OUT SPIRIT DAY / PHOTO: The LVMS annual Pink Out Spirit Day and Photo took place on Tuesday, October 24th! Thank you to all that participated in the events. The LVMS Student Council was able to raise over $400 to be donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Reminders

STUFF THE BUS: This week will begin the LVMS Annual Stuff the Bus item drive. More information included below about items that are in needed at the Long Valley Food Pantry.


PENNY WARS: PTA Sponsored Penny Wars has been EXTENDED to through this week and will conclude on Friday, November 3rd. All proceeds will directly benefit LVMS students!


HALLOWEEN AT LVMS: On Tuesday, October 31st, some students may choose to wear a Halloween Costume to school. The LVMS staff is supportive of this and annually look forward to a fun day seeing students in their costumes enjoying the day. Please remember, any costumes worn on Halloween MUST adhere to the LVMS Dress Code.


YEARBOOK COVER CONTEST: the final day to submit art wok for the 23-24 Yearbook Cover Contest is Tues. 10/31!

Expectations for Halloween at LVMS

On Tuesday, October 31st, some students may choose to wear a Halloween Costume to school. The LVMS staff is supportive of this and annually look forward to a fun day seeing students in their costumes enjoying the day. Please remember, any costumes worn on Halloween MUST adhere to the LVMS Dress Code. Additionally, any props, carried items, weapons, masks, costumes that make difficulty walking, or items that promote excessive violence or gore, will not be permitted at LVMS. Students that do not follow these guidelines will be required to change.

Parent Teacher Conferences

Parent Teacher Conferences are scheduled to begin on Monday, November 6th and conclude on Wednesday, November 8th. Many staff members have already began to schedule conferences with families. Due to the number of students, conferences are scheduled at the teachers request first. Parents are always encouraged to request a conference at any point by reaching out to the team of teachers.


Dates: All dates follow the LVMS Early Dismissal Schedule (1:35 PM Ending Time)

  • November 6th: Afternoon & Evening Conferences
  • November 7th: Afternoon & Evening Conferences
  • November 8th: Afternoon Conference


Due to the volume of conferences, teams may schedule meetings outside of 11/6 - 11/8

LVMS Veteran's Day Celebration

To honor Veteran's Day this year, LVMS would like to create a Wall of Honor to celebrate family and friends that served in the military. Please consider completing the slide with a picture of your Veteran to be displayed in the library starting on Monday, November 6. At this time we will also be hosting our Long Valley Veteran's for a celebration for their dedication to our country.


Students must submit or share the Wall of Honor with their Social Studies teachers no later than Thursday, November 2nd.

LVMS Fall Picture Update / Picture Retake Day

**Please visit the link above if you would like to order photos - physical photo packages and digital copies emailed instantly are available**


  • If you already ordered prints from Lors Studio, they were sent home with students during homeroom last Monday, October 16th
  • If you ordered a photo package AFTER picture day (9/21), those photos will be mailed directly home. If there was an issue with your photo or order, please contact Lors Studio directly.
  • Students only received pictures if a photo package was purchased.
  • There are no preview photos or images provided to families; families will only see their student photo if they ordered a picture package; a preview image can be seen when students receive their Student ID (to be received in the upcoming weeks)



  • Picture Retake Day: Thursday, November 2nd

    • Students that missed picture day (on 9/21/23) are required to have their photo taken
    • Any student that purchased a picture packages and wants a retake, the photos must be returned to the photographer on the morning of Picture Retake Day (11/2)

    Penny Wars - EXTENDED TO FRIDAY 11/3!

    The LVMS PTA is sponsoring Penny Wars during all lunch periods. The competition has been extended through this week and will conclude on Friday, November 3rd. Each house will have their own bin to put coins in. All coins are worth points and all bills subtract points. The house with the most points will win Spirit Points for House Wars.
