March Book Madness has Begun!
The 5th Annual March Book Madness Competition has begun in D303! March Book Madness is a reading program organized by the D303 LRC Directors with St. Charles Public Library and Townhouse Books as partners. Sixteen picture books are chosen, and each school reads and votes on the books in their division. For five weeks, we read, vote, and narrow down the list until we have one winner. Corron is part of Division 3, so for the first round, students have been reading:
A Unicorn, a Dinosaur, and a Shark Walk into a Book vs.
You're Going to Love This Book
The Man Who Didn't Like Animals vs.
Millie Fleur's Poison Garden
After winning the student vote, A Unicorn, a Dinosaur, and a Shark Walk into a Book will continue to the second round. Be sure to ask your child the books they are reading and voting for! A winner will be announced before spring break. Have questions or want more information? Email our LRC Director, MS. Skoglund (christine.skoglund@d303.org).

Art Request
The Fiber center has opened up! Many students are choosing to do a weaving.
If you have leftover yarn at home, please consider donating it to the art room. We need chunky yarn or thicker yarn for weaving, and colorful!
Keep saving and sending in Amazon plastic packaging. They make a great packaging material for the clay pieces students have been creating!
Thank you,
Rebecca Hubbs

From the Health Office
Cold and flu season is upon us! Preventative measures remain the most effective
way to reduce the spread of influenza and other viral illnesses.
Students who present to the Health Office with a fever and/or feeling poorly are sent home. To prevent widespread illness in school, we recommend that your child stay
home from school if experiencing flu or cold symptoms. To decide whether or not to send your child to school, please consider the following guidelines:
CONSIDER KEEPING YOUR CHILD AT HOME for an extra day of rest and
observation if they have any of the following symptoms:
Very stuffy or runny nose and/or cough
Mild sore throat (no fever, no known exposure to strep or COVID)
Headache
Mild stomach ache
DEFINITELY KEEP YOUR CHILD AT HOME for treatment and observation if they
have any of these symptoms:
Fever (a temperature of 100 degrees F or greater)
Vomiting (even once)
Diarrhea
Chills
General malaise or feelings of fatigue
Frequent congested (wet) or croupy cough
Lots of nasal congestion with frequent blowing of nose
TO HELP PREVENT THE FLU AND OTHER COLDS, teach your children good
hygiene habits:
Wash hands frequently
Do not touch eyes, nose or mouth
Cover mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing, use a paper tissue, throw
it away and then wash hands
Avoid close contact with people who are ill
Colds and viruses are the most contagious during the first 48 hours. A child who has
a fever should remain at home until fever free and for a minimum of 24 hours without medication. A
child who has started antibiotics needs to be on medication for 24 hours before
returning to school. Keeping your ill child at home will minimize the spread of
infections and viruses in the classroom!
Thank you in advance for helping make this year at school as healthy as possible.
Nutritional Thoughts from Organic Life
Nutrition labels contain a lot of essential information about your child’s food. Details like calories, vitamins and minerals, serving size, and macronutrients such as protein, fat, and carbohydrates can help you make important choices about your child’s diet. The percentage daily value (%DV) can help you determine how much one serving of a given nutrient contributes to the recommended daily intake.
GPS Parent Series
District 303 is proud to partner with the Glenbard Parent Series (GPS) to offer our families broader access to information sessions and resources that support their child’s development.
For decades, GPS has been offering free programs that aim to empower and strengthen families, individuals and communities. As a partner organization, District 303 will support promoting upcoming programs and their importance to our local community.
