Dear District 115 Community:
As we quickly approach the end of the school year, I’m reminded of the many milestones our students will soon be marking. Last week, we celebrated one of those milestones, correction, Myles-stones.
April 11 was designated Rickey Myles Day throughout District 115, honoring the 40-year career of Head Custodian of Buildings and Grounds, Rickey Myles, who will be retiring as part of the Class of 2024.
Known as the “Man with the Megaphone” and one of the 7 Wonders of Lake Forest High School, Mr. Myles has cemented his legacy at the school through his passionate pep talks in the cafeteria and willingness to support staff and students alike. He embodies the mission of the District to “inspire the passion to learn, the insight to know oneself, and the courage to make a difference.” As a former track star at Jackson State University, Rickey knows what it takes to be successful and has used his story to inspire current and past students and staff who have shared the halls with him.
Toward the end of Rickey Myles Day, LFHS faculty, staff, students, and administrators lined those very same halls to give Mr. Myles a well-deserved Clap Out in celebration of his storied career. As I heard the applause echoing throughout the school and witnessed the tears and hugs, I was reminded about the impact that all of our teachers and staff make on our students each and every day.
Thank you, Mr. Myles, for serving as a shining example of what it means to be a Scout! The entire community has benefited from your service to LFHS.
All my best,
Matthew L. Montgomery, Ph.D.

District 115 Board of Education Seeks New Member
District 115 Board of Education announced the resignation of Dr. Marcus Schabacker, effective April 12. The Board is grateful to Dr. Schabacker, who has served since 2021, for his contributions to the District and wish him well in his future endeavors.
Following the Illinois School Code, the responsibility for filling the vacant position now rests with the remaining board members. They have a 60-day window from Dr. Schabacker's resignation date to accomplish this task. Failure to fill the position within this timeframe will shift the responsibility to the Regional Superintendent of Schools.
The Board encourages all interested and qualified individuals that wish to serve on the Board to submit an application. Completed applications must be received by 5:00 pm on Tuesday, April 23, 2024. Once the Board of Education has reviewed the applications, selected candidates will be interviewed, and an appointee will be installed at the District 115 Board Meeting on June 4, 2024.

OPENING NIGHT TOMORROW - LFHS's Spring Musical: Mean Girls
It's so fetch! Mean Girls: The Musical hits the stage with your favorite characters from the movie, powerful music, and some serious laughs.
Cady Heron may have grown up on an African savanna, but nothing prepared her for the vicious ways of her strange new home: suburban Illinois. Soon, this naïve newbie falls prey to a trio of lionized frenemies led by the charming but ruthless Regina George. But when Cady devises a plan to end Regina's reign, she learns the hard way that you can't cross a Queen Bee without getting stung.
With dynamic songs for young performers, Mean Girls is an anthem to friendship, loyalty, girl power, and being true to yourself.
As we are performing the high school version of the Broadway show, the show is considered PG-13.
Performances will be held in the RMA on…
- April 18, 2024, 7:00 pm
- April 19, 2024, 7:00 pm
- April 20, 2024, 7:00 pm

LFHS Alumni Announces Employment and Mentoring Opportunities
At Lake Forest High School, we are committed to supporting all graduates after they leave our halls. As our alumni discover their professional passions, we want to connect them with potential employers and mentors who can offer both opportunity and insight.
We are asking businesses and nonprofits, local, out-of-state, and abroad, to consider submitting available employment (permanent and temporary) and internship positions to be posted on our LFHS ALUMNI EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES WEB PAGE, housed on the *Lake Forest High School website.
We also recognize great value in pairing more established professionals with young alumni, as well as alumni who are considering new professional paths. Students Enjoy Sun-sational View of the Solar Eclipse
On April 8, students across the District joined millions across the country in witnessing the solar eclipse. Clear skies provided the perfect opportunity for classes to head outside, don their solar safety glasses and peer up to view the rare phenomenon.
The eclipse also offered chances for scientific experimentation as students worked closely with teachers to explore the uniqueness of the event. The next eclipse viewable in the U.S. won't be until August 2044.
