The annual BCPS Climate Survey has been revised with fewer questions and a focus on school climate and engagement. Students in Grades 3–12, parents/caregivers, community members, and all staff are asked to complete the online survey, which is accessible from the BCPS home page. The survey takes three minutes or less to complete, is anonymous, and is available in multiple languages. The survey window will close on Friday, March 8.

Scholarship Opportunities
Dr. Joe A. Hairston Scholarship
To be eligible to apply for a Dr. Joe A. Hairston scholarship, a student must:
• Be the first generation in their family to attend a college or technical school.
• Graduate from a Baltimore County Public School with a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.0.
• Provide verification of enrollment to an accredited two or four Year College or technical
school.
• Complete the application and the 500-word essay.
• Have taken the SAT or ACT.
HBCU Book Scholarship
The Education Foundation announced they would fund 40 book awards to supplement the cost of books and classroom materials for Baltimore County Public School seniors who attended the virtual HBCU College Fair. These scholarships are designed to offer a one-time $500 award to a member of the BCPS senior class who will matriculate at one of the HBCU’s that presented at the college fair.
The deadlines to apply for each of these scholarships have been extended to Friday, March 8, 2024. Both are available to seniors in Naviance.

Teen Advisory Boards Announce Final Projects
Throughout the school year, our regional Teen Advisory Boards (TAB) have been meeting and weighing in on the needs and interests of their peers to help branches create programs, services and resources tailored to them. These groups also created a teen-led community service project in each region after discussing the needs of their communities and their personal passions. We are excited to share each region’s events and invite the community to come out and support the programs.
Central Region Teen Advisory Board Presents: Party Planters

Looking for homework help or some extra practice in certain school subjects? The members of Baltimore County Public Library's West Region Teen Advisory Board are here to help students by providing extra aid in first through fifth grade language arts and math. One-on-one tutoring is offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
East Region Teen Advisory Board Presents: Art Club and Art Supplies Swap
Saturday, March 23, 2 p.m. (Perry Hall Branch)
You are invited to an afternoon of painting with an opportunity to swap arts and crafts supplies with other attendees. Completed paintings will be collected and donated to local senior living facilities. Attendees are not required to bring donations to take part in the supply swap. Limited seating available; first come, first served. Tickets are available 30 minutes before the program.

Food Assistance Resources
The Baltimore County Department of Social Services offers programs and services designed to help residents in financial need who meet income-eligibility requirements, as well as resources to provide food assistance for Baltimore County families, including:
- Senior Food Assistance—Seniors experiencing food access needs may call 410-887-2594 or email aginginfo@baltimorecountymd.gov.
- Baltimore County Public Schools (BCPS) Food and Nutrition Services—Learn more about the food assistance programs offered through BCPS.
- SNAP Emergency Allotments—The Maryland Department of Human Services has been approved to issue SNAP emergency allotments to all current SNAP households. Learn more about SNAP to see if you qualify for monthly benefits to help purchase food.
- Pet Food Assistance—Learn how to receive pet food assistance from the Baltimore Humane Society or make donations to their Bmore Kind Pet Food Bank.

Boundary Studies
Did you know that you can get answers to your questions about BCPS by participating in a wide range of Board of Education Advisory and Stakeholder Groups. The Stakeholder Groups include The Citizens’ Advisory Committee for Gifted and Talented Education, the Special Education Citizens Advisory Committee and the PTA Council. Brief descriptions of these groups and links for additional information such as contacts and upcoming meeting dates can be found on the BCPS page Advisory Groups - Baltimore County Public Schools (bcps.org), Some topics that will be presented include Behavior and Safety, Back to School - Schoology, Focus, and Other Tools, The Student Handbook, Special Education, Food & Nutrition, and FY2025 Capital and Operating Budget Hearings..

What is Parent University
Parent University is offered through the BCPS Office of Family and Community Engagement, which we affectionately call FACE! We provide tools and resources to BPCS families to support learning at home. We offer these resources through in-person and virtual workshops hosted by community members and schools, our newsletter, and the Parentmobile. We also have a large collection of online resources. We hope you enjoy what we have to share.
