OUTDOOR ENVIRONMENT (ODE)
ODE - Open Positions 2019-2020
Primary Outdoor Environment Teacher
Elementary Outdoor Environment Teacher
Dr. Montessori strongly believed that children should be grounded in reality and connected to nature. The Outdoor Environment (ODE) is exactly the place for this to happen. The ODE is an extension to the regular works and materials of the indoor classroom. It offers a place for the child to extend their lessons and experiences to truly create new knowledge. The ODE is an outdoor space where children move with control, are respectful of nature and others, and are able to touch, dig, and grow. The Outdoor Environment teacher is a very special person to both the children and the teachers! This is a part-time position requiring 12-15 hours a week.
Interested candidates, please contact Stacie Jackson:

MONTESSORI RESEARCH PROJECT
Augustus H. Shaw Montessori School has agreed to assist the Riley Institute at Furman University and the Brady Education Foundation with a nationwide research study about the impact of Montessori education on children’s growth and development. Researchers are asking permission for your child to participate in the study. If you agree, a member of our team would spend 30-45 minutes with your child doing activities including naming letters, identifying pictures, and counting objects. These activities will take place twice in the 2019-20 school year, once in 2021, and a final time in 2022. We find that most children enjoy the activities. Please note that only those students entering the 3-year old program at Shaw Montessori are eligible to participate.Parents/guardians who return forms granting consent for their children to participate will be issued a $25 Amazon gift code via email. Once you affirm your child's participation in the link below, you will be prompted to enter your email address. This is necessary in order to distribute your gift code. If you have any further questions, please contact Brooke Culclasure at brooke.culclasure@furman.edu.
