Baseball
Methacton had a tough week of games last week with four in a row leading into the prom and post prom events on April 19. Unfortunately for Methacton the week included several tough losses that could have gone either way. The Warriors started strong with a huge 10-9 extra-inning win at Spring-Ford on Monday night. We lost a tough game at first place Owen J. Roberts on Tuesday night 2-1 after taking a 1-0 lead into the 7th inning. A tough 9-7 loss on Wednesday afternoon to Upper Merion followed by an extra-inning loss to Boyertown on Thursday afternoon dropped us to 6-3 on the season.
The schedule doesn’t get any easier this week with a big double header Monday night at Perkiomen Valley where we will finish our extra-inning marathon game from April 11 with our regularly scheduled game to follow. On Tuesday we host returning conference champion Phoenixville, followed by an away game at Pottsgrove on Wednesday. We close out the week with a home game against Norristown on Friday.
100 inning Marathon Game Fundraiser- our biggest fundraiser of the year will take place at 9:00 am and go all day at our varsity field here at Methacton. Come out and enjoy 100 innings of baseball, friends and family, and great food!

Softball
The Methacton softball team faced a very difficult schedule last week. The ladies faced the top three teams in the league and lost two and got one win.
Sydney Hockenbrock continues to lead the team with her bat. She batted over .400 for the week, drove in 6 runs and had 1 HR. She has been versatile defensively playing first base and catching. Maddie Baker and Rachel Pettine have been added to the lineup and have provided a spark to the offense with great at bats and base running. Freshman Sadie Fitch pitched a great game in relief vs. Boyertown. She gave up 1 run over 5 innings.
Mady Krupiewski also had a good week at the plate. The senior’s bat is starting to get hot at the right time.
The team has 3 home games this week. Tuesday is also senior day and we look forward to honoring our seniors: Courtney Freese, Rachel Pettine, Maddie Baker, Madison Krupiewski, Madelyn Polonsky, Kaydance Iorio, and Mia Pettine.
Boys Lacrosse
The boys had a good outing this week going 1-1 in PAC play. We enjoyed celebrating our seniors Thursday night and look to carry that enthusiasm into a VERY important week for both PAC and district playoffs.
Notable Performances-

The girl's lacrosse team finished a week of triumph and challenges. Winning against Norristown and Pottstown, the team got to try some new plays, and reinforce skills implemented from practice. Friday’s night game against Boyertown ended with a loss of 13-3 with goals by Bella Catania, Meghan Wertz, and Carmelo Maro.
The girls look forward to their night game away at PV on Monday, April 22nd. Wednesday will be another night game at home against Phoenixville, and Friday’s game will be away against Norristown. Saturday, April 27th the girls will head up to Penn State to play against State College Area High School.
Wednesday, April 24th will be the Autism Awareness Youth Game at home against Phoenixville. Game time will be at 7 pm. Come out to show your support!
Boys Tennis
The boys tennis team had a jam packed week last week. We started the week off on Monday finishing the league singles tournament. Akash Suresh finished in 3rd place and Karun Jayaram finished in 5th place which allowed both teammates to qualify for the district tournament. Tuesday, we traveled to Pottstown and picked up a 7-0 win.. We then traveled to Downingtown East for a hopeful non-league win but came up short 1-6. Senior Akash Suresh was the Warriors one victory of the day. Thursday, we regrouped keeping our focus on our biggest league match of the season thus far against another undefeated PAC team Owen J Roberts. The Warriors came up strong with the 6-1 victory. On Friday morning, Akash Suresh and Karun Jayaram represented Methacton at the district singles tournament but fell short in their first rounds. Akash played a strong new freshmen to the scene from Plymouth Whitemarsh and Karun faced another new freshmen who was the tournaments number 6 seed from West Chester East. This week will be busy as well as we start off with 3 more league matches as we hope to keep our streak going in the PAC.
Boys Track & Field
The Methacton Boys concluded a busy stretch of meets, which included 5 meets in 8 days. The track team battled against one of the best teams in the state this past Wednesday, PAC opponent Spring Ford. The boys kept it competitive for most of the day, but ultimately lost the meet 95-55.
In the 100m dash, Wesley Conover, Avery Smith & Brody Mellow swept the race for the 2nd time this season. In the Shot Put, Nico Lumbrano and Abel Robles both had impressive days, each eclipsing the 40 foot mark. Nico's throw of 42-10.75 was almost 2 feet further than his previous PR.
The meet also saw many PAC qualifiers in the distance events. In the 1600m run, Tyler Rifkin, Akhil Yeluri and Jason Nagle all ran in the 4:40s, to qualify for the championship meet. In the 3200, Mitch Alexander, Charlie Reith and Ben Freese also qualified. Mitchell won the race with an impressive dual meet mark of 10:05. Freshman Liam Goldich continued his impressive first season as a sprinter/thrower with a shot put throw of 38'8, which will book his ticket to PACs.
In total, 12 different distance runners have already qualified for the PAC championships, with 10 of them qualifying in two events.
They will continue training this week before the Penn Relays and Whippet Invite.
