Christmas is in the air, and the children are filled with excitement!

We are praying daily at the Advent Wreath and learning about two new saints: Saint Nicholas of Myra and Saint Juan Diego. With our upcoming concerts, caroling, and performances by the BHS Brass Ensemble, there will be plenty of music to enjoy. In addition, students will be taking the second round of STAR Assessments, which will continue through January. While December is a short month, it is filled with learning, love, and laughter!

We are looking for helpers for Santa's Workshop and Caroling Day! Some of the opportunities are in the evening and don't require clearances. Please help us to make these events special!

We hope to see you tonight at our Cozy "Camp-In" Reading Night!

If you are planning to have your child utilize the After School Care Program during this time, we ask that you register them using this link by 12:00 p.m. on Friday, December 6.

This year our Saint John Home & School Association will be hosting monthly social events for families. The first activity will be a "Cozy Camp-In Reading Night" and will take place on Wednesday, December 4, from 6:00-7:00pm in the school auditorium. Put on some cozy clothes, grab your books, blankets, and flashlights and spend an evening reading together! All school students and their family members are welcome to attend. Children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the event. Please contact Michelle Russell (mrussell@saintjohnsch.net) or Alison Stauffer (Summersa2@gmail.com) with any questions.

Santa's Helpers have been busy preparing for another fun season and would love for you to join us in making the season bright for our students!

We are looking for volunteers:

• Wednesday, Dec. 11, 5:30-7:30 p.m.: Help carry bins from the school closet to the auditorium stage, and/or help organize and prepare gifts for Friday. Clearances not required.

• Thursday, Dec. 12, 5:30 p.m.-?: Come help transform the school auditorium into Santa’s Workshop! Clearances not required.

• Friday, Dec. 13, 8-11:05 a.m. or 11 a.m.-2 p.m.: Sign up for a shift to help students shop and/or wrap their gifts. We will also need help cleaning up at the end of the day. Clearances required.

Thank you to all families who participated in the Gift Card Calendar Raffle! If you missed sending in your ticket stubs and money to the office by today's deadline, please return them ASAP so that all sold ticket stubs are ready for the first drawings on Monday, Dec. 9. There will be two daily drawings each school day between Dec. 9 and Dec. 20.

The Home and School Association is planning a "Snow Bowl" at Bellefonte Lanes in place of our traditional Snow Ball dance. We are working out the details to reserve the entire facility for Saint John School on SUNDAY afternoon, Feb. 2 (rather than Saturday, Feb. 1 as previously announced). Please mark your calendar and watch for full details soon!

This family fun event will put a new spin on our annual winter event to close out Catholic Schools Week, with the intent of alternating between a family dance and a family bowling event every other year moving forward.

Please join us as we pray for the special intentions of the St. Amant and Hallman families, as well as those of Mrs. Packer and her family.
