Together We Shine.....Family Rocks!!!
Week of November 25, 2024
Happy Thanksgiving to all our NES families,
We count you and your children amongst our blessings. We are so very honored to have the opportunity to partner with you in the education of your children. Thank you for entrusting your children in our care. We are so honored to work with our children and you.
Our children are in the midst of writing about what they are thankful for and their blessings on feathers(paper) they have made. We are displaying the completed ones on a beautiful turkey in the main hall. (we will send pictures) Our intent is to share student writing responses additionally over the PA so everyone may celebrate together their wonderful blessings and what they are thankful for. You would be so proud, as many children are saying that they count YOU, aunts, uncles, grandparents, pets, homes, etc. amongst their many blessings. Nothing has been materialistic....rather relationships, care, family and people. Its surely a tribute to the focus on love and kindness that we have as a school community....making the world a better place. What are you thankful for this Thanksgiving?
Favor please: Sometimes kids are wearing clothes at home and then to school which is great but sometimes poses a challenge because kids unknowingly bring something unsafe to school...something they may have recently played with at home. Please would you OR have your kids check pockets and book bags before they accidently bring something into school. We have strict rules about no gum, pop-its, whittling tools, pocket knives, shredded bullets, electronic games, etc. being brought to school............ this is all in the name of SAFETY.
Favor #2- Our new STEAM classroom has loads of new, cool hands-on materials. It is an amazing child engaging place. Mrs Webb has created an phenomenal environment!!!! The recent Thanksgiving day parade floats engineered in STEAM are also phenomenal.
Sadly, we are starting to loose items that we want to absolutely have for future classes. At home, if you see items like small connector toys, cool suction cup toys, bells, timers, legos, pom poms, etc. Please have children return to classroom or office....no questions asked. We just need our items returned please. Thank you.
After Thanksgiving break we will begin mid- year I-Ready testing in the areas of Reading and Math. The testing window is December 4 -13th. Your child's teacher will share with you the exact dates they intend to assess your child. During December we will also be taking a good look at reading skills and strategy development through a number of formative assessments. Our goal, through assessments, is to monitor student progress in order to challenge our students or intervene. We like to keep a good eye on growth and progress.
