Our new schedule this year makes attendance crucial for students' academic success, and it's extremely important they attend bell to bell. We are seeing a number of students in the building, but not attending their whole classes. We want to remind you that we have multiple codes for attendance:
Arriving to class marked VL (very late)
Leaving early without permission, or asking to leave early for another reason
Missing class entirely
As you look at your student’s attendance in ParentView please ask your student about any attendance codes that may be coming up. If you need help signing up for ParentVue please do not hesitate to call Sheldon High School and we can help set that up for you.

Senior Grad Party
Grad Night
Grad night is a party that gives seniors a central place to be together one last time after graduation! We’ve worked to create a fun, safe and meaningful event with something for everyone.
LOCATION: this year’s event is being held at the beautiful brand-new Eugene Family YMCA. With 75,000 sq ft, we have ample space to create a wide variety of experiences.
ACTIVITIES: Casino games, bull riding, silent disco, carnival games, DJ and dancing, axe throwing, inflatable contraptions, a pool party and more! Plus a Photo Booth and caricatures.
PRIZES & GIVEAWAYS: We’ve rounded up over $2,500 worth of giveaways and prizes for our seniors. Your graduate isn’t going to want to miss their shot at electronics, dorm appliances, brand-name gear and a HUGE array of gift cards!
FOOD: What’s a party without food? We’ve got it covered with pizza from Papa’s and Tracktown, a huge spread from Cafe Yumm! and almost 1000 cookies and desserts!

Tutoring
A friendly reminder that we are offering After School Tutoring for all Sheldon students that need some extra help or extra time to get some work done. We meet every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday after school from 3:45-4:45 in the Sheldon Library. The tutors include teachers from most subject areas and National Honor Society students. Sack lunches and snacks are provided to all that attend. We will be offering this program until Tuesday, June 11th. If you know a student that could benefit from this service, please send them our way.
Expectations: You will be expected to Check-In to the attendance portal found on the Sheldon Website when you arrive and complete the Google Form. While you are at the After School Tutoring Program you are expected to be working on a class or classes that you are struggling in. Teachers and tutors are there to help answer any questions and give instruction when needed. Before you leave you must Check-Out by completing the same Google Form you Checked in with.
Incentives: -You will be provided a sack lunch as well as snacks. We will also offer a drawing at the end of each section for those that completed their Google Check-in/Check-out Form.
-Students who attend all three sessions for each week will also be rewarded with a prize (ex. Free pizza from Papa’s, Dutch Bros gift card, etc.)

Want to Volunteer?
Let's bring volunteers back to the high school level. If you are interested in volunteering your time, creativity or resources, please reach out to Alicia (martin_al@4j.lane.edu). Some of the volunteer opportunities are, Tutoring, Counselor Appreciation, Teacher Appreciation, etc... New opportunities will pop up all year long and we would love to have a list of people who are willing to help out our school.
If you are interested in helping within the school, please fill out the volunteer background check.
Bike Theft
Given the prevalence of bike theft in our community, we encourage you to follow these tips to reduce the risk of bike theft:
- Always lock your bike, even if you're just leaving it for a minute.
- Lock to something secure, not something like a chain link fence that is easy to cut through.
- Do not leave your bike locked at school overnight.
- Lock with a U-lock, not a cable lock.
- Lock the bike through one of the triangles of the frame, not through the wheel, as that can easily be removed.
----
