BEH Weekly Family Message
October 28th
Last Week in Review
Summary of the Week:
Outside of Spirit Week, this week should be a little less busy and we should be able to focus more on getting in the rhythm of the new schedule we started last week.
What to Watch for This Week:
Spirit Week:
Our BEH Spirit Week is this week. This flyer came home in student folders last week with more details, but here are the themes for the rest of the week as chosen by our remaining student council members from last year:
- Tuesday, October 29th - Pajama Day
- Wednesday, October 30th - Student/Staff Swap Day (Dress like a teacher)
- Thursday, October 31st - Costume Day (no masks or accessories)
Student Council:
We will hold our primary elections for student council this week. Fourth and fifth grade will hear their nominees share their speeches with them this week and vote them down to six fourth grade candidates and eight fifth grade candidates to be entered into the schoolwide election next week. We will then vote as a whole school to elect our final three fourth grade and four fifth grade student council members.
No SUN School this Thursday:
There will be no SUN School this Thursday (10/31) so that our SUN/SEI staff can support SEI hosting the community Harvest Fair at SEI from 4:30-7:30 that evening. All families are invited to attend. It will be held at the SEI Center at 3920 N Kirby Avenue, just a few blocks from BEH.
No School Friday (11/1) or Monday (11/4):
We have no school this Friday so that teachers can complete their report cards for the first quarter and then there is no school on Monday so that teachers and staff can plan for the start of the second quarter based on the data they collected this quarter.
Looking to the Weeks Ahead:
Parent/Teacher Conferences:
Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held on November 25th & 26th. Please remember to sign-up and attend these conferences to connect with your student's teachers about how they are doing and how we can best support them through the rest of this school year. If you have not signed up for a time yet, look outside your student's class for the sign-up sheet or contact the teacher to get on their schedule. This year, we will have an added incentive for all parents to attend a conference with their student's teachers and we will be giving away student sweat suits to all students whose parents are able to attend a conference with their teacher.
