LAW Eclipse Event - April 8th
On April 8th, we will have the opportunity to witness a solar eclipse. Brian Lapointe, our fourth-grade teacher, has taken the initiative to obtain safety glasses for the entire student body.
To ensure a safe viewing experience, we have established some guidelines. Students in grades 1 through 5 will have the chance to go out to the back field for approximately 15 minutes to observe the eclipse while wearing the safety glasses provided. (Note the eclipse will just be starting during out viewing time and will not meet totality until 3:30 p.m. ) For students in the SLC (Structured Learning Center /Mrs. Chase and Mrs. Peterson classrooms) and all the Kindergarten classrooms, will view from indoors with safety glasses available ensuring all students are included in this exciting phenomenon. Event time approximately 2:40- 2:55 p.m. .
During dismissal, students will be able to carry their safety glasses in the event they feel compelled to look up as the eclipse will still be in progress.
We believe this is a unique opportunity for our students and we're excited to share it with them! Please make sure you grant permission for your child to participate on the attached permission slip and return the slip by April 5th. (This includes students viewing from inside). If you prefer that your child does not participate in the eclipse viewing, please indicate so on the permission slip provided. These students will have an indoor prearranged place to meet until after the viewing is completed.
Please return to your child's homeroom teacher or feel free to send back electronically to sferguson@asrsd.org

Dr. Donaher's PBIS Update!
Happy April! During this past month, students continued to be briefed on all school expectations as they pertain to the school, classrooms, recess, bathrooms, and the bus. Students have been working hard to be great community members and have been earning green PAWS to use at the School Store.
In the month ahead, we will continue to educate and reinforce these expectations at our Friday Schoolwide Weekly Meetings. At home, please have a conversation with your student(s) about all school expectations including what it means to be a safe passenger on the school bus--this would be very helpful!
As always, I am here to help and support--please do not hesitate to reach out. I am looking forward to the month ahead. For now, I hope that you all have a safe, healthy, and enjoyable month ahead!

Every Kid Healthy Week: What is it?
Every Kid Healthy™ Week is an annual celebration of school health and wellness achievements. It takes place during the last full week of April – each day shines a spotlight on the actions schools and families are taking to improve the health and wellness of their kids. We also highlight the link between nutrition, physical activity, mental health and learning – because healthy kids are better prepared to learn and thrive!
Only 1 in 3 children get physical activity each day.
About 15 million children have a mental, emotional, or behavioral health condition.
Approximately 1 in 7 kids lives with food insecurity.
