In preparation for our upcoming Read Across America Week celebration, second-grade students at Bennett have been practicing their read-aloud skills as they get ready to share their favorite stories with first-grade reading buddies! This special activity encourages students to build confidence in their reading while fostering a love of books across grade levels. As they practice reading with expression and fluency, our second graders are excited to inspire younger students with stories they enjoy. We can’t wait to see these reading partnerships in action as we celebrate the joy of literacy together!

Students at Bennett are diving into the world of spreadsheets during their technology lessons with our Library Media Specialist! As part of their digital learning experience, students are exploring Google Sheets, where they are learning how to enter and organize data, format tables, and create simple spreadsheets. This hands-on lesson helps build essential tech skills, encouraging students to think critically about data organization while strengthening their digital literacy. We’re excited to see our young learners apply their new spreadsheet skills in creative and practical ways.

The Bennett Fun Run is happening this Thursday, March 6, and we can’t wait for a day full of energy, excitement, and school spirit! Each grade level will have a dedicated time to run the course, and families are welcome to visit during their child’s timeslot to cheer them on.

• Grade 1: 9:40 AM - 10:20 AM
• Grade 2: 10:20 AM - 11:00 AM
• Grade 3: 11:00 AM - 11:40 AM
• Grade 4: 11:40 AM - 12:20 PM

Thanks to the generosity of our PTO and local partners, every Bennett student will receive a free Fun Run T-shirt, which will be handed out on the morning of the event. We look forward to seeing our students showcase their enthusiasm and teamwork as they run, jog, or walk the course! Let’s get moving, Bennett!

Bennett Elementary is gearing up for an exciting Read Across America celebration this week! Students will enjoy buddy classroom reading, welcome guest readers including district leaders and local first responders, and attend a special assembly featuring Pete the Cat! To make the week even more fun, each day will have a special dress-up theme, and students and staff are encouraged to join in. See the flyer below for the list of themes. We are excited to celebrate the joy of reading together. Stay tuned for more details, and get ready for a fantastic week of literacy fun!

A reminder to families that Taunton Public Schools will be closed on Friday, March 7 for a district-wide professional development day. There will be no school for Bennett students on this day. We hope everyone enjoys the long weekend, and we look forward to seeing our students back on Monday, March 10!

Any student with a fever of 100 degrees or more, diarrhea, or vomiting, cannot return to school until they are symptom free for 24 hours without the use of fever/symptom reducing medicine (Tylenol, Motrin etc.) If a child is absent for 5 or more consecutive days, a written note from your child’s health care provider may be required for re-entry to school. The Bennett PTO is a group of parents, teachers, and administrators working together to help supplement the educational offerings at BES by planning, coordinating, and running special events and fundraisers. The group is always looking for new members and volunteers. If you would like to take a more active role in supporting the school community, please consider joining. The next PTO meeting will be Tuesday, March 4, at 6 PM in the BES library.
