❗❗ PSAT Opt-In Form: Attention 8th grade parents ❗❗
The PSAT 8/9 is a free test that measures the same skills as the PSAT/NMSQT but is geared towards 8th and 9th graders. It helps establish a baseline for students as they start high school. The PSAT is recommended as a diagnostic tool to help identify students' strengths and areas for improvement.
This year LAUSD is offering the PSAT 8/9 as an opt-in exam. If you or your child do not want to take the exam exam, then no further action is needed. If you or your child do want to take the exam, you must sign and return the the opt-in form that was sent home with 8th grade students by Monday 10/21. Students that opt-in for the PSAT exam will be excused from their 1st through 4th period courses on 10/23/24 and while they take the exam on our campus.
If your 8th grade student did not receive an opt-in form one is attached below for your convenience. You may contact the main office at (323) 224 4700 if you have any additional questions.
LAUSD Title I Parent and Family Engagement Policy
Dear Parents and Guardians of El Sereno Middle School,
The Los Angeles Unified School District approved a new LAUSD Title I Parent and Family Engagement Policy in June of 2018, which was developed with the meaningful consultation of Title I parents and family members from each Region. The summarized policy is attached. A hard copy of the entire policy may be requested from the main office.
Our school's Title I Parent and Family Engagement Policy is developed with input from Title I parents and approved by School Site Council. We are committed to fostering a strong partnership between our school and families. Please provide your feedback on this survey to help us develop strategies to increase your involvement in your child's education.
Sincerely,
Cesar Quezada
Principal

🎃👻October Student Calendar
What is iReady?
i-Ready is an online program for reading and/or mathematics that will help your student’s teacher(s) determine your student’s opportunities for growth, personalize their learning, and monitor progress throughout the school year.
i-Ready is designed to complement what is being taught in the classroom. Your student’s teacher will have information from the Diagnostic that shows where some extra review would be beneficial, which will help the teacher provide the best possible support. Your student will also work on online lessons that bolster the areas of greatest need. Your student’s teacher can see which lessons have been completed and offer help any time your student needs extra support.
