A Note From Principal May - Hoodies, Headphones, and the Social Aspect of School
Dear Station Parents,
Sometimes, school rules can seem arbitrary, and downright petty. Upon deeper inspection, however, the deeper meaning behind these rules can come into view. Case in point, hoodies and headphones. Upon first glance, it may seem that we are choosing an odd battle by prohibiting and monitoring the wearing of headphones and hoodies here at Station, yet when you look deeper, we hope you’ll agree that this fight is worth it, for much bigger reasons!
Middle school serves as a critical period in a student's development, where social experiences play a pivotal role in shaping their identity and interpersonal skills. These formative years are not just about academic growth but also about navigating complex social dynamics. Daily interactions with peers and adults help adolescents learn empathy, cooperation, and workplace norms—skills essential for success in both personal and professional life for years! Additionally, friendships forged during this time provide emotional support and a sense of belonging, buffering against the challenges of adolescence. Thus, middle school social experiences are integral to fostering well-rounded individuals equipped with the social skills necessary for navigating the complexities of adulthood.
Warm Regards,
Chad May

Metra Train Safety Assemblies
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Barrington CUSD 220 is partnering with Metra to educate our students and staff of the importance of railroad safety to keep all students, staff, and community members safe in the presence of railroad crossings.
Metra will share a 30-45 minute presentation at an all school assembly at every Barrington school prior to spring break. Station Campus will participate in assemblies on March 4th, during the Colt Time periods. The assemblies will be age-specific, explaining the importance of obeying railroad crossing warning devices and discussing general railroad safety.
If you would like to learn more about railroad safety in order to partner with our school district, a few resources are found below:
If you have any questions about the safety presentation, please feel free to contact Mr. May at 224-725-9013.

When you arrive to pick up your child, please come to the front door with your cell phone. Ms. Jarva or Ms. Alters will buzz you in and you will scan a QR code (located on table near front door) that is linked to a sign-out form that you complete while you wait for your child to come down from class. Please note, only individuals listed on Infinite Campus (IC) will be allowed to pick up your child. If you need assistance with the parent portal, please contact the Infinite Campus Hotline at (847)-842 3580.
Thank you!
Barrington 220 Board of Education wants your feedback!
Thanks to the community’s support for Barrington 220's referendum in 2020, the district's Build 220 initiative has made tremendous progress in renovating our aging school buildings and transforming learning spaces for students. However, much work is still needed to ensure our students learn in schools that meet our community’s high expectations.
Barrington 220 is holding four community engagement meetings in March to gain stakeholder feedback about projects that should be included in a potential referendum question on the November 2024 election ballot. Together, we will develop a community-driven plan so all Barrington 220 students have access to the quality education they deserve. These meetings are open to the public. Each meeting will feature a presentation, along with an opportunity for stakeholders to ask questions. Please note that each meeting will have the same agenda. Click here to learn more!
