March 7, 2024
Hello Arcadia Lions!
Welcome to our School Newsletter!
Welcome to this week's edition of the Lion Tribe Newsletter! As we eagerly anticipate the arrival of Spring Break next week, we would like to take a few moments to reflect on the accomplishments that we have achieved.
Celebrating Achievements
- Academic Excellence: Our students have shown exceptional dedication and commitment to their studies, and achieving outstanding academic results. We are immensely proud of their hard work and perseverance.
- Secondary Service Project: Our secondary students spoke to Mrs. Cook about doing a service project. Mrs. Cook presented an idea to them and they prayed about it and then quickly began preparing for it. They will be working for donations to provide cots to send to India to impoverished areas that do not have anything to sleep on. See more details below on their hard work and ways that you can help.
- Let's Go Lions $5 Fundraiser: The $5 Let's Go Lions Spring Fundraiser is up to $850! Keep those donations coming! We are at 16% participation and Ms. Vivian's class is in the lead. The deadline is March 19th. Everyone is excited for the 100% participation prize = School Wide Glow Dance Party!

Elementary Tardies
This school year we have seen an increase in Elementary tardies and more so in the second semester.
Handbook Guidelines:
See page 19 of the handbook for complete details: https://afbcs.org/studenthandbook/
- Being tardy to school results in added stress on both students and teachers, as important information is given at the opening of school, attendance is taken, and assignments for the day and week are often provided.
- Arrival prior to 8:00 am is one crucial element to a successful day.
- A student is considered tardy if he/she is not in the gym before 8:00 am.
- It is recommended that elementary students arrive at the gym no later than 7:50 am so they will be ready when school begins at 8:00 am. Elementary students can be dropped off as early as 7:30 am.
- Students arriving at school after 8:00 am should report to the office to get a tardy slip.
- The only excused tardy is with a doctor's note. If the student is late, the student is tardy.
Let's Go Lions! $5 Spring Fundraiser
Secondary Service Project: Cots for India
We are so proud of our secondary students as we are watching them work for their donations to be able to fill the need of cots in India. Each student in secondary is working to earn $26 each as a minimum to fill the immediate need. To date our students have raised $538.52. The pictures below show a few of our students at their lemonade stand earning money for the project. It is awesome to see how God is moving in our secondary! Way to go!
If you would like to donate to this service project, please send cash in an envelope labeled Cot Service Project. Prayers are also appreciated for our students as they work on this project and for those in India in such need. Thank you so much!

Student Council Re-Cap from College of the Mainland Tour
Reported By:
Chloe Wood,
Arcadia Student Council Reporter
The 2023 Student Council, Mentorship, and High School students went on a tour to College of the Mainland. This was an eye opening experience that allowed us to plan and prepare for our future. While we were taking a tour we were able to learn about each class we could take in the school, and realized how many classes we need to achieve an Associates, Bachelors, Masters, and Doctorate degree.
We also learned that we can take ten classes in a year of college. This will help us to see that in order to get a certain degree we will need a certain amount of credits. We also learned that once you choose a major in college you should try not to change your major. We also found out that you should base what you like to do and apply it to a job that you could do when you are older.
It is also fine if you do not know what you want to do for college yet. To figure out what you want to do, list ten things you enjoy doing. The list should help you see different options of jobs you could do based on your list. When you get to college you are not on your own. There are people there to help you.
Once you get into high school you are able to do dual credit or collegiate at College of the Mainland to get some key classes completed to help you progress towards your degree. Taking classes in high school will lower the amount of years in college you will have to take and for a cheaper price.
Thank you so much Chloe for reporting on what our
Arcadia Student Council has been up to lately.
