Huskies Have HEART Newsletter
December 15, 2024
Greetings Central Heights Students and Families,
Monday, December 16th is an A-day. On Friday, December 20th, we’ll have an altered schedule so that students can enjoy a school-wide social beginning at 2:20pm. Students will be able to enjoy a dj, free gym time, arts and crafts, bingo, and other fun activities.
Remember, winter break is two weeks this year and there is no school from Monday, December 23rd through Friday, January 3rd. Students return to school on Monday, January 6th, which will be a B-day.
Sun Prairie Area School District has an Amazon Wishlist for Students Experiencing Homelessness.
Your donation will support the basic needs of students experiencing homelessness in the Sun Prairie Area School District. Supporting our students with their most basic of needs helps them feel comfortable and confident as they go into the school day. We appreciate your support and care for our most vulnerable students! When you make a donation, please fill out the following form for our records and to receive a letter for your tax records. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdlnD6RQ3bJ037jygxJMTM46dBlygpBrPgtLvFzlsGi7lifnQ/viewform
A reminder for the morning drop off lane: Please do NOT sit in your car after your student exits. Doing so prevents other students from being dropped off in a timely manner. Once it is 8:10, you should be dropping your student off and driving through the traffic loop.
Girls' Basketball registration is open. Tryouts are January 6th and 7th with practice starting on the 8th.
Please make sure your athlete has a current physical on file at the school.
All sports registration will be done through Infinite Campus (IC) using the parent portal beginning August 1. The only form we need turned into the office (hard copy or emailed) is the sports physical form- see below. You can sign up for any of the sports starting August 1, however our two fall sports are
The following information is required before students can participate:
Middle School Co-Curricular Participation and Sports Physical Form
By signing up on infinite campus, this gives your student permission to participate and states that you and your student athlete agree to all academic and behavioral expectations and important district policies and information on concussions and sudden cardiac arrest as outlined in The Rules and Regulations Handbook for co-curriculars (also known as the Eligibility and Code of Conduct).
The only form not completed on Infinite Campus that you need to turn into the office (or email to lhwilli@sunprairieschools.org) is a current sports physical. This gives your child medical clearance to participate. This is a requirement before any student can participate in athletics.
A physical dated on or after April 1, 2023, is considered “current” for the 2024-2025 school year only. Physicals dated after April 1, 2024 will be good for the 24-25 and 25-26 school years. Please note, the physical form needs to be signed, dated, and stamped by the physician. We do not accept an appointment summary or a print out from My Chart.
If your most recent physical is dated before April 1, 2023 or you have not had a physical completed, you need to schedule a physical with your doctor. This should be done quickly. Have your doctor complete/sign the Physical Card portion of the form during your appointment before you leave.
Students who qualify for free or reduced lunch fee waiver also qualify for a free sports physical through our district wellness clinic. There is a clinic scheduled: October 10th. Call 608-834-6977 to schedule.
Participation Fee
There is a $15 fee per sport. This should be paid during the sign up process on Infinite Campus. If you are eligible for a fee waiver, the participation fee is also waived; please click here for more information.
Upcoming Events:
Course Expo is an opportunity for students and families to come to the high school and browse the wide variety of courses and programs we offer in our high schools. At the Course Expo teachers will be available to students and families for questions. We want students to select courses they are truly interested in and passionate about.
Course Expo at SP East - January 14 from 5:30-7:30pm
Course Expo at SP West - January 21 from 5:30-7:30pm
All Central Heights students will attend EAST High School. There may be a few exceptions, depending on boundaries and open enrollment. Students, parents, and caregivers need to know the expo's date, January 14th.
Please watch this video presentation that was co-created with our School Resource Officers. Parents/Caregivers who attended this presentation in person in the past asked that we create a video to share with a broader audience as they found many of the tips helpful. In the video, we outline some recommendations for monitoring your student’s social media accounts. We highly encourage you to build in time on a regular basis to talk with your student about their phone use habits.
Each week, we update our announcements with student club information (dates/times/room numbers). In order to join a club, students just need to attend it. If they enjoy their time in the club the first night, we’ll get them ‘rostered’ to the club and it will show up on their schedule for after school activities (similar to how sports do). Click on this link for the latest information about our Central Heights clubs (Link is updated weekly).
