District Designations
Districts are given one of four labels. These labels include:
Developing/Applying Districts- This is for a district developing their local designation system and applying to TEA for the first time.
Application Accepted Districts- These are districts who had their initial application or an expand/modify application accepted, but have never had their data approved (received allotments).
Fully or Provisionally Approved Districts- These are districts that have had their data approved by TEA and have received allotments for their teachers.
Renewal Districts- Every 5 years, districts have to renew their application to TEA to remain a TIA district.
These titles can change year over year. For example, if a district has never received an allotment, but they turn in their data and it gets approved, then the district moves from Application Accepted to Fully Approved.

National Board Certification News
What is National Board Certification?
This two minute video is a great introduction to National Board!
Why should I become National Board Certified?
Educators in Texas who become National Board Certified Teachers (NBCTs) automatically earn a Recognized level allotment under the TIA system, which can range from $3000-$9000. The TIA Funding Map is a great resource to explore the allotments in your school district. This allotment is available to any teacher in the state of Texas regardless of whether their school district has a TIA plan. You do not have to be eligible to earn a designation in your district to complete the National Board process- you just have to be willing to put in the work!
Please watch the short video below to learn more about how the National Board Certification process can help you grow in your expertise as a teacher.
Prospective National Board Candidates
If you are just beginning to explore National Board Certification, you don't have to complete this process alone! It is highly recommended to find an accountability partner at a minimum, and we intend to provide you with individualized support as you embark on this journey! Stay tuned for important deadlines and informational sessions this summer and fall!
If you are excited to learn more, the National Board website has provided a Homeroom to anyone interested in starting this process. If you’d prefer, the video below offers a 30-minute in-depth overview that effectively explains National Board Certification in a clear and concise manner.
Current National Board Candidates
If you have already embarked on the National Board Certification journey throughout the 2024-2025 school year, here is a list of deadlines for component registration and submission.
Please note: it is not recommended to register for component submission for the 2024-2025 school year unless you have already been collecting work samples and preparing your components throughout the year. The next cycle begins in May of 2025, and those who are just getting started should wait until then to begin this process.
